Actor and director Rob Reiner has tragically passed away at the age of 78.

This comes after the reports that two people were found deceased in Reiner’s Brentwood home on the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 14. TMZ has confirmed that the deceased have been identified as the actor and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.


Tributes Pour In For Rob Reiner

After it was confirmed that Reiner and his wife were found dead in their house, many fans began paying tribute to him on social media.

“RIP to Rob Reiner and his wife. Hope they get justice, this is so horrifying and devastating. We’ll never forget you Rob,” one fan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Rob Reiner had one of the craziest runs in all of film history no matter what news comes out tonight, we should take time to remember all of the incredible art he gave us,” another fan wrote.

“rob reiner directed my favorite movie of all time. a true work of art. i will forever treasure when harry met sally. rest in peace to a true legend. the film world will miss you forever,” a fan said.

“Please don’t let the rumors of Rob Reiner and his wife be true. Created some of the best movies I’ve ever seen, and in recent has really stood up for equality and compassion during these dark days,” someone stated.

“I grew up with Rob Reiner films. I cherished them and they still mean the world to me to this day. Thank you, Rob,” another person wrote.


Rob Reiner’s Legacy

Reiner’s journey in Hollywood began as a comedy writer in the 1960s, working alnside Steve Martin on Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. He then starred in the CBS sitcom “All in the Family,” where he played Mike “Meathead” Stivic, winning two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

After the show ended in 1979, Reiner entered the world of directing, kicking things off with “This is Spinal Tap.” He went on to direct other incredible films such as “Stand By Me,” “The Princess Bride,” and “When Harry Met Sally.”

And what makes “When Harry Met Sally” even better is it’s where he met his wife, Michel and the two got married in 1989. They share three children, and Reiner also has an adopted daughter from his first marriage to director Penny Marshall.

Reiner also made some television appearances in recent years, starring as Jess’ father Bob on “New Girl,” along with businessman Albert Schnur on “The Bear.”
