Lena Dunham Is ‘Expanding’ Her Family With Husband Luis Felber

Lena Dunham has revealed that she and her husband, Luis Felber, are looking to start a family together. The “Girls” creator and star told The Times, “I will say we’re in the process of expanding our family in new ways.” 

Dunham, 39, had a hysterectomy in 2017, but that is not stopping her from welcoming children into her life. She did not say exactly what she and Felber’s plan is, but explained, “I want to safely meet our children and then figure out how to talk about it.”

The Emmy-nominated writer, director and actor elected to have a hysterectomy at age 31 due to “unbearable” pain and a long battle with endometriosis. However, she has always wanted to become a mother.

“The fact is, I never had a single doubt about having children,” Dunham wrote in 2018 essay for Vogue. “Not one, since the day I could understand how families were made.

Dunham & Felber’s Happy Marriage

After a difficult period in her life, marked by a stint in rehab and a public breakup with producer Jack Antonoff, Dunham met the man of her dreams. 

In February of 2021 she and Felber, a musician, were set up by a mutual friend and the pair were married by August of that same year. “It wasn’t possible to resist it. It just felt like: this is what’s happening,” Dunham told The Times about her relationship with Felber. 

Despite achieving massive career success at a young age, it wasn’t until Dunham married Felber that she felt she could finally exhale. “I am so lucky in that the last years have been, I would argue, the most peaceful of my life,” she shared with People. 

So peaceful, that Dunham feared she was turning into a bore. “Sometimes I feel like I am boring on the phone with my friends, because I have a lovely husband who I adore collaborating with,” she revealed.

Dunham’s Already Full House

Even though Dunham and Felber are still in the process of welcoming children, they already have quite the full house. The couple, who live in North London, share two dogs, Ingrid and Cornichon, as well as five cats, Elegance, Rhett, Truman, Porsche and Smudge.

According to Dunham, she is thrilled to be with someone who loves animals as much as she does, even when they’re all lounging on the bed. “I can’t believe I’ve found someone who is as with it as I am,” she told The Times. 

But soon enough, there will be children in the mix as well. “In the long term our big dream is to have a farm situation in the countryside,” Dunham said. “And children with British accents skipping off to school in little hats and uniforms. It’s too charming!”
