Following his October 2024 death, Liam Payne’s former partner Cheryl Cole has been named the administrator of his $32.2 million estate along with his music industry lawyer, Richard Bray, the BBC reports.
“If someone dies without making a will, the rules say any children will normally inherit their estate if there is no living husband, wife or civil partner. Payne never married but he and former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl had a son, Bear, who is now aged eight,” the BBC further detailed.
Payne and Cole welcomed their son, Bear Grey Payne, in 2017, and he is the former One Direction singer’s only child.
Payne passed away in Buenos Aires, Argentina after falling from his hotel room on the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.

Liam Payne Reveals the Inspiration Behind His Sonâs Name
In September 2017, Payne spoke about the reason he and Cole named their son Bear during an interview on âThe Late Late Show With James Cordenâ.
âWhen he was born, one of the midwives said it, he had this thing where if [babies] donât have a good cry they get fluid in their lungs, which is quite serious. He was going, âRrrr, Rrrr,â when he was sleepingâ Payne detailed and included an impression of the growling sound he had been making.
âSo I had specialists running in and out of the hospital all day, my Mrs. was asleep. He was being checked over and he was being checked over and they were like âOh, weâre not really sure, weâll get somebody else. I had 10 doctors come in the room and in the end the guy was like, âDude, Iâm not being funny. Thereâs nothing wrong with him, he just likes to make a lot of noise,â and thatâs carried on ever since. So it just became Bear. Children live out their name,â he continued.
