The late Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy was involved in a car crash, but appears to be uninjured.
The 26-year-old influencer shared a video on social media of her getting into a blue Lamborghini under the caption, ‘How it started,’ before posting a video of her on the side of the road with the car’s side smashed in, adding: ‘How it ended.’
While fans worried about her health in the comments section, by the light-hearted caption- ‘Lesson learned don’t let your girlfriend drive your brand new car’ – it seems Kate came out of the smash without any serious injuries.
Other fans were focused on Kate’s description of herself as someone’s ‘girlfriend’, but others dismissed this as a term used between women who are friends, as the car appears to be her friend Alexandra Gall’s.
Alexandra also posted a similar video on her social media after the smash, and replied, ‘So true,’ when a fan commented: ‘It’s good that they’re okay. Material things come and go, but life doesn’t. Thank God they’re alright.’
‘Thankfully no one was hurt,’ she then confirmed, and replied, ‘I’m so sore,’ after Kate commented: ‘AWFUL.’
Kate – who Payne had planned to marry before his untimely death – has emotionally opened up about her grief journey since the death of the One Direction star on October 16 2024 after he fell from the third floor of a Buenos Aires hotel balcony.
On the anniversary of his death, Kate shared a video of Liam and her messing around as she jumped into his arms.
‘This video was taken during the last hour and last day Liam and I shared in this lifetime. I am forever grateful for the beautiful moments we shared. I will miss you for the rest of my life Liam,’ she said.
The day before, she shared a video of her crying and wrote that grief is a ‘reminder of how lucky I am to have loved someone so much that I will endure missing them the rest of my life’.
On what would have been Payne’s 32nd birthday in August, Kate wrote an emotional message: ‘My dearest Liam, it breaks my heart being that I can’t hand you a physical birthday card today. That I can’t hear your laugh, or tell you all the things I wish I’d said a thousand more times.’
She continued: ‘I hope you know how brightly you still shine, even from up there. I would give up years of my life just to give you a few more. I miss making memories with you. I miss having things to look forward to together. But today, my birthday gift to you is my strength.’
