During a recent appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” Lindsay Lohan revealed why she left Hollywood behind for a quieter, more private life in Dubai.

“It’s just far away from Hollywood, and I live a very normal life,” Lohan said. “There’s no worry of, like, I can’t go eat at this place ’cause someone’s gonna take a picture of my son. And it’s just, I feel very safe.”

When host Kelly Ripa asked if paparazzi were a concern in Dubai, Lohan surprised her by saying that the laws around photography are much stricter than in the U.S.

“No, it’s not legal,” Lohan explained. “You can’t even take a picture of someone else if you’re at a restaurant. You have to ask the person, which is a big difference from here.”

Ripa responded in shock, “What? That’s incredible!”

“Yeah, privacy is key,” Lohan reiterated.

A New Chapter Abroad & On-Screen

Lohan has lived in Dubai since 2014. In 2022, she married financier Bader Shammas, and in 2023, the couple welcomed their son, Luai. For Lohan, relocating abroad has provided the stability she sought after years in the public eye.

The “Liz & Dick” star has been candid about her complicated relationship with fame. In a 2018 interview with Paper magazine, she shared, “I could do 99 things right and one thing wrong, but it’s that one thing that will be focused on.”

“Behind the scenes, I do what I can to be the best version of me, which never gets mentioned,” she added. “I am also human. I make mistakes. That’s all that seems to get reported.”

Now, Lohan is promoting her latest film, “Freakier Friday,” a sequel to the 2003 comedy “Freaky Friday.” The movie, which premieres in theaters Aug. 8, reunites her with co-star Jamie Lee Curtis.

In a recent interview with Page Six, Lohan recalled a key piece of advice from Curtis: “She said, ‘How you show up on set is how the whole crew feels. You control the energy that goes on set, so always bring your best self.”

“It’s very full circle for me,” she said of the reunion. “And it was just a really exciting day when we were first there, all together.”
