Lindsay Lohan & Shailene Woodley Star in New TV Series Based on Hit Novel Hulu

Hulu has officially ordered “Count My Lies,” a star-studded limited series that will bring together Lindsay Lohan and Shailene Woodley in a suspense-filled story based on Sophie Stava’s debut novel. The novel has quickly become a breakout hit, earning a spot as the Good Morning America Book Club pick for March and drawing strong praise for its sharp twists and addictive storytelling. According to Deadline, the project comes from former “This Is Us” executive producers and showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, with both Lohan and Woodley also serving as executive producers.

In “Count My Lies,” Woodley plays Sloane Caraway, a compulsive liar who lands a nanny job for the glamorous and magnetic Violet, played by Lohan, and her husband Jay Lockhart. What seems like a dream position quickly unravels as Sloane discovers the household is full of dangerous secrets that could have catastrophic consequences for everyone involved.

Lohan Brings Disney Legacy to Hulu After “Freakier Friday” Success

Lohan’s casting carries extra weight for Hulu, which operates under Disney, given her long history with the company. She first rose to stardom through Disney hits like “The Parent Trap,” “Life-Size,” “Get a Clue,” “Freaky Friday,” and “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.” She recently returned to Walt Disney Studios in “Freakier Friday,” the hit sequel to her 2003 classic, which scored major box office success and reignited her mainstream popularity. That renewed momentum makes her Hulu debut a natural next step, as her Disney fan base now has yet another new reason to tune in to the platform’s original shows.

Woodley Adds Star Power From “Divergent” Trilogy and “Big Little Lies”

Shailene Woodley’s addition gives “Count My Lies” another major boost in drawing power. Known worldwide for leading the “Divergent” film trilogy, she has also starred in acclaimed projects like “Big Little Lies,” “The Fault in Our Stars,” “Three Women,” and the upcoming film “Motor City,” which is set to premiere at both the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals. She is currently appearing in the second season of Hulu’s “Paradise,” reuniting with Aptaker and Berger from their “This Is Us” days.

Aptaker and Berger will serve as showrunners, writers, and executive producers under their The Walk-Up Company banner, alongside Lohan, Woodley, and Scott Morgan. Stava will produce, with 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios, serving as the studio.

Published in March 2025 by Scout Press, “Count My Lies” was selected as the Good Morning America Book Club pick for that month. Its combination of dark secrets, complex relationships, and high-stakes drama is expected to translate into must-watch television for Hulu audiences worldwide.
