Marta Kristen Honors June Lockhart After Her Passing at 100

Marta Kristen is remembering her longtime co-star and on-screen mother, June Lockhart, following Lockhart’s passing at age 100. The two starred together on the CBS sci-fi series “Lost in Space,” where Lockhart played Dr. Maureen Robinson and Kristen played her daughter, Judy. Their connection continued long after filming ended.

“June Lockhart! She was one great dame,” Kristen shared, in a heartwarming, lengthy tribute. “She had unparalleled tenacity and intelligence. I’m not surprised she lived to be 100.”

Kristen recalled a moment during production that revealed Lockhart’s vibrant personality.
“While filming ‘Lost in Space,’ June would often go out on Friday evenings after a long day on the set,” she said. “I especially remember one Friday when I saw her coming out of her dressing room, and I could not help but gawk.”

Kristen described Lockhart in a striking outfit of green and white crocheted bell-bottoms with a matching top, her hair loose and glowing. “She was magnificent,” Kristen wrote in her tribute: “A Rock ’n’ Roll Queen.”

Kristen also remembered Lockhart’s generosity and sense of adventure. When Kristen was planning a fiftieth birthday surprise for her late husband, she hoped to arrange a ride on the Goodyear Blimp. Not knowing where to begin, she turned to Lockhart.

“June immediately said that she would arrange this with one condition – that she be a part of the birthday surprise and excursion,” Kristen shared. “Of course, I said yes. As you could imagine, we all had one helluva day in the air.”


A Legacy of Curiosity, Joy & Light

Kristen said countless stories demonstrate Lockhart’s intelligence, humor, and curiosity. “She loved life, and life loved her,” she wrote.

“Her zest for life, whether it be listening to David Bowie or being honored by NASA with a public achievement medal for her dedication to space exploration, is just a few examples of why we all loved her.”

“I treasure all of the moments, both professional and personal, I was blessed to experience with this incredible, intelligent, and beautiful woman,” Kristen said. “My heartfelt condolences to her loving family. June’s light will continue to shine. Rest in Peace, my dear friend.”

Lockhart leaves behind a legacy defined by grace, wit, and a lifelong love of storytelling. Her work on “Lost in Space,” “Lassie,” and countless film and television roles continues to resonate with audiences across generations.
