Louis Tomlinson has opened up about his romance with Love Island star Zara McDermott, revealing he is ‘so in love’.

The former One Direction singer, 33, has opened up about his romance with Zara, 28, just two months after confirming their romance.

He revealed that he has been inspired by his current relationship, and his new album is a reflection of their love, explaining hed’ ‘struggle’ to write something so romantic if it wasn’t a reflection of something real.

‘I’m a deeply, deeply romantic person. It’s also easy to be romantic when you are a creative those things are tied. But I think for me, I really struggle to write in a fictional sense, I really struggle,’ he told Steven Bartlett’s The Diary Of A CEO podcast.

‘For me, I have to have been living it it has to be literal, it has to be real to me. So, if I wasn’t feeling so good, like right now, I wasn’t feeling so in love, the record probably would have a slightly different feel to it.

‘Just ’cause things like that are in everything I, we do.’

The couple was spotted on a date in Suffolk at the start of the year, igniting romance rumours.

The pair was then snapped looking cosy several times, and could be seen commenting on each other’s posts on social media, but had yet to confirm they were officially together.

Seemingly tired of keeping their feelings out of the spotlight, in August, Zara shared an intimate selfie taken by Louis of the pair kissing, confirming their love.

In the interview he admitted that he now has a new sense of purpose since the romance, and just wanted his album to feel good.

‘One thing I was thinking about with this record, my intention is just to maybe feel good.

‘I know that’s a really cliché and obvious thing to say, but I’m not sure some of my other music did that. It made you feel, it was honest, it was painful at times, but it didn’t feel good.

‘So, I think now I’ve got this almost new sense of life, a new sense of happiness, and purpose, and fulfilment, all those things.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Louis revealed the exact moment Niall Horan told him Liam Payne had died,

The singer died aged 31 in October last year after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel room in Buenos Aires.

When asked where he was when the news came, Louis said: ‘In the car, in LA. I found out through Niall [Horan].’

Payne wasn’t Louis’ first experience of intense grief. In December 2016, Louis’ mother Johannah Deakin died of leukaemia at the age of 43, and three years later, in March 2019, his younger sister Félicité, 18, died from an accidental overdose.

‘I had the same feeling that I had with Félicité, and I think anyone has this when they’re around someone who’s struggling; my 150% wasn’t nearly enough,’ Louis said.

Louis also admitted he ‘always’ worried about Payne, who he calls the ‘closest thing to a brother’ out of anyone in his life.

‘I love him deeply, could spend hours and hours and hours with him, but there was an element of always checking in and just making sure that he was cool like that,’ Louis explained.
