In 2023, before the birth of Moore and Goldsmith’s third child, Lou, their two sons, Gus and Ozzie, were both diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Having two unwell children was incredibly stressful for the “This Is Us” actress and her husband. She recalled feeling “helpless.”

“It was a super helpless feeling,” Moore told People. “I mean, we were lucky in the sense that it didn’t include a hospital trip, but my husband and I were still really shook and very concerned.”

Moore revealed that she and Goldsmith were worried about their newborn getting RSV and discussed their options. They ultimately decided to get Lou immunized soon after she was born. This was a decision that helped Moore feel “unbelievably reassured and relieved.” She has since teamed up with a group of other high-profile mothers to promote the monoclonal antibody medication. These moms are Gaby Dalkin, Elaine Welteroth, Shawn Johnson East, and Katya Echazarreta.

As a mom, Moore has also emphasized the importance of women supporting one another as they navigate their own challenges in motherhood. “I think moms have to lean on each other. Nobody gets it like another mom,” she said. “That’s why it’s been such a gift to be able to lean on my friends in this particular mom squad.”

She continued, “I think we all kind of have this shared goal of caring about new and expecting parents, and, in particular, being able to talk about everything, especially the health of our kids.” Moore is discussing RSV in particular, raising awareness about the virus and the options for preventing it. However, she has also stressed the importance of having other parents to lean on, as this can be incredibly beneficial.

Speaking of the mom friends she has made and how they can relate to each other on a different level, Moore said, “It’s so much fun to be able to lean on those kinds of friends … and I feel like the friendships that I’ve made since becoming a mom are deeper than anything I ever expected. And I’m so unendingly grateful for them.”
