Some celebrities are regularly photographed attending events and functions, but in recent years, Martin Lawrence has not been one of them. The âBad Boysâ actor made a rare appearance at the Los Angeles screening of “Highest 2 Lowest” on August 13, 2025.
The event was held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, California. And although itâs great to see Lawrence looking so well, as he smiles widely for the cameras while wearing a cap and sunglasses, what made this moment even more memorable is that he was joined by his ex-wife, Shamicka Gibbs.

Lawrence has three adult daughters: Iyanna Faith Lawrence, Jasmine Page Lawrence, and Amara Trinity Lawrence. His eldest, Jasmine, is from his relationship with his first wife, former Miss Virginia USA Patricia Southall. His other two daughters, Iyanna and Amara, he shares with his second wife, Shamicka Gibbs, whom he married in 2010.
Lawrence and Gibbs had been in a relationship for 15 years before their wedding.
Shamicka Gibbs Celebrates Martin Lawrence
Even before these photos, Gibbs and Lawrence appear to have been on good terms, something they hoped to achieve when they announced their decision to split in April 2012. “Out of love and respect for one another, we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together,” they said in a statement, E! News reports.
Lawrence filed for divorce on April 30, 2012, citing âirreconcilable differences.â
Gibbs publicly celebrated him as a father on June 21, 2021, when she posted a photo on Instagram of the actor and his three daughters in honor of Fatherâs Day. In the caption, Gibbs shared her thoughts. âHappy Fatherâs Day to one of the best dads in the world!! @martinlawrence Our girls are so blessed to have you as their daddy,â she wrote.
She continued, âI love the way you show our girls how much they are loved. You live your life and work so hard to make sure they always have the best wonât have to want for anything. They get their funny, their honesty, their loyalty, and their kindness from you. I am honored to share this journey of parenting with you!!! You are an amazing Girl Dad.”
Gibbsâ Instagram bio states her name as Shamicka Hill, and she appears to be married to Antwuan “Ace” Hill. He features in several of her posts, and they look adorable together.
They celebrated their second anniversary on August 13, 2024, and Gibbs commemorated the moment with an Instagram post. She did not share an update for what would have been their third wedding anniversay on August 13, 2025.
