<p id=”par-2_41″>Netflix is planning a film adaptation of Jasmine Guillory’s bestselling book <em>The Wedding Date, </em><a href=”https://deadline.com/2025/12/the-wedding-date-netflix-movie-prince-harry-meghan-markle-in-works-1236650457/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Deadline</a> reports. <em>Girls Trip </em>screenwriter Tracy Oliver will pen the script, with Meghan and Harry set to produce through their company Archewell Productions, along with Tracy Ryerson. </p>
<p id=”par-3_50″><em>The Wedding Date, </em>which was published in 2018, is a contemporary romance about a lawyer named Alexa Monroe who gets stuck in a hotel elevator with a pediatric surgeon named Drew Nichols. The chance encounter leads to Alexa agreeing to accompany Drew to his ex-girlfriend’s wedding, sparking a long-distance romance.</p>
<p id=”par-4_15″>Guillory can’t wait to see her <em>Wedding Date </em>characters come to life on the screen. </p>

<p id=”par-6_17″>Fans of the book flooded Guillory’s post with congratulations and expressed their excitement for the upcoming movie. </p>

<p id=”par-9_55″><em>The Wedding Date </em>is the second feature film adaptation in the works from Archewell Productions. In 2023, Netflix announced with was working with the Sussexes on a movie version of Carley Fortune’s <em>Meet Me at the Lake. </em>But there have been no further announcements about that film, leading some to suspect the project has stalled. </p>
<p id=”par-10_85″>“By this point, you would have thought they would have got a director on board and a cast. So what is the delay?” a Hollywood source told <a href=”https://pagesix.com/2025/07/24/royal-family/meghan-markles-meet-me-at-the-lake-may-never-happen-source/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Page Six</a> earlier this year. “And when you make something for Netflix, it takes a long time for it to actually hit the streamer — there is so much to do in post production, to make sure it’s ready for every country. If the deal is up this year, then when is this film going to be made?”</p>
