As per US Weekly, Christopher Guest, who starred in “This Is Spinal Tap,” and his wife Jamie Lee Curtis said in a joint statement that they were “numb and sad and shocked” by the “violent, tragic deaths of our dear friends,” adding that their “ONLY focus and care right now is for their children and immediate families,” and asking for time to grieve before reflecting on the creative, political, and social legacy the couple shared.

The late Norman Lear’s family echoed that sentiment, calling the loss “devastating” and noting that Lear often referred to Reiner as a son, praising Rob and Michele for spending “every breath trying to make this country a better place” through art, activism, philanthropy, and love.

Cary Elwes, Reiner’s “The Princess Bride” collaborator, posted a simple “No words…” alongside a photo from set, while Ron Howard remembered Reiner as “a superlative filmmaker, a supportive colleague and at all times a dedicated citizen,” adding that he would be missed “on so many levels.”

Police Investigate Deaths of the Beloved Couple

The death of Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Singer Reiner, 68, remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, as confirmed by USA Today.

The couple was found dead Sunday afternoon at their Brentwood home, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said during a Monday press conference.

McDonnell confirmed that the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, was taken into police custody, booked on a murder charge, and is being held on $4 million bail as the investigation continues.
