Just a day after losing his father, actor Michael Madsen, 19-year-old Luke Madsen turned to Instagram to honor the man he called his ‘hero’. Michael Madsen, known for his gritty, unforgettable roles in Quentin Tarantino films, was found unresponsive in his Malibu home on Thursday, July 3. He was 67.

Sharing a childhood photo of the two, Luke remembered his Dad, Michael Madsen, not just as a tough-guy movie star, but as the strong, loving presence in his life.

“Some peoples hero’s wear capes and fly shooting lasers out of their eyes,” Luke began.

“Some peoples hero’s can fight off armies and overcome anything. My hero wore a cowboy hat. My hero stood taller and stronger than any man I’ve ever met. My hero understood me better than anyone.” He continued, “My hero is the coolest, most badass human being I know. Not only was my hero a famous tough guy movie star. My hero was my father. And he was a damn good one. Love you, Pops.”

Luke ended his post with a deeply emotional nod to his late brother: “I’ll see you again someday. Tell Hudson I said hi.” Hudson Madsen died by suicide in 2022 at age 26.

He’s best remembered as Vic Vega (Mr. Blonde) in “Reservoir Dogs” (1992), Budd in “Kill Bill: Volume 1” and “Volume 2,” and Sheriff Hackett in “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” (2019).

As per People, his team — managers, Ron Smith and Susan Ferris, along with publicist Liz Rodriguez, released a joint statement honoring his recent work and legacy:

“In the last two years, Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film… and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life.”

They also shared that Madsen was preparing to publish a poetry book titled “Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems”, which was in its final stages of editing.

They concluded the statement with: “Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, who will be missed by many.”
