Miles Teller Nearly Unrecognizable in New Michael Jackson Biopic 

In his latest screen transformation, actor Miles Teller has virtually vanished beneath prosthetics and a dramatic hair makeover.

The 38-year-old is set to portray John Branca—the legendary music lawyer who helped shape Michael Jackson’s multibillion-dollar legacy—in the forthcoming biopic “Michael.”

Teller’s picture recently circulated online, showcasing him unrecognizable: shoulder-length brown hair, subtle aging makeup, and a serious, business-sharp expression.

The image sparked a wave of reactions—from admiration for the actor’s commitment to his craft to curiosity about what the transformation means for the film’s look and approach.

The change is so startling that fans initially mistook Teller for playing Jackson himself. 

One noted, “I thought he was playing Michael Jackson,” as his transformation is unrecognizable.

“Well this is a tough transformation, couldn’t even recognize first,” one user wrote.

Others praised Teller for his impressive acting range.

“Interesting casting! Can’t wait to see how Miles Teller brings MJ’s attorney to life on screen,” another added.

All About the New Film

The biopic—directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan—will star Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson and Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson.

Jaafar is also the King of Pop’s nephew.

Teller takes on the role of Branca, the man who steered Jackson’s estate and legacy through highs and legal battles alike.

The film is described as “An in-depth portrayal of Michael Jackson, a complicated man, who became the King of Pop. The biopic will bring to life Jackson’s most iconic performances as it gives an informed insight into the entertainer’s artistic process and personal life.”

With a release date set for April 24, 2026, Michael is still in post-production and undergoing additional photography.

The teaser trailer was released on Thursday, No. 6 to the delight of fans. 

Teller previously dished on playing the role of Branca while speaking with Variety in March of 2024.

“You only get so many opportunities in this business to make films,” Teller told the outlet. “I’m really excited to be a part of it. I think it’s going to blow people away.”

He even added that he was able to spend some time with Branca prior to filming and how he wanted to have as much information as possible for the role.

“I think you just try to inundate yourself with as much information as you can,” he said.

The “Top Gun” actor added how excited he was for the opportunity to join the film.

“Regardless of what you know or what your opinion may be, Michael is one of the greatest to ever do it, if not the greatest. He deserves a movie, and I’m excited to be a part of it,” he noted.
