Nancy Guthrie, 84, once asked internet users on the site Nextdoor about what outdoor security cameras were best to see nighttime activity, the New York Post reports.Â
According to Nextdoorâs official website, their app âconnects neighbors to the people, places, and information that matter most in their local communities.â Those who are able to verify their real address on the app will also have access to âtrusted local newsâ and âreal-time safety alerts.â
In the NYPâs report on Guthrieâs usage of Nextdoor, it states that she sent her request for information on November 25, 2021. The location on her post, which others in her area were able to see, was verified as Tucson, Ariz., where her Catalina Foothills home is located.Â
Nancy Guthrieâs Nextdoor Post
âI’m thinking about buying ring or nest security/doorbell camera? Any suggestions? Which has the best camera? Interested in seeing animal activity at night,â Guthrie, mother of Savannah Guthrie, wrote.
Guthrieâs Nextdoor post received six comments and four reactions from locals. One response said, âA trail camera might be cheaper.â
Another comment, which could be seen in the screenshot obtained by the NYP, said, âGreg Gaunt and they r great.had something digging in our front yard buy could never catch it..husband set out a trail camera…it was a packrat almost the size of our cat..have never seen one that big before..â
During an interview with NewsNation on Tuesday, Feb. 3, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos addressed the cameras that were outside of Guthrieâs $1 million home, saying, âI know there were cameras.â
Nanos added, âThose cameras are in our possession, and weâre downloading them and working with a lot of the makers of those cameras, because some of them are server-based but not cloud-based, and so those things are actively being pursued.â
Nancy Guthrie Likely Forced Out of Her Home Against Her Will
GettyAs of Feb. 3, two days after Guthrie was reported to be missing, authorities have turned her home over to her family after concluding their investigation inside and out. âThe scene is done,â Sheriff Nanos said during a press conference, Today.com reports. âWeâre done with the residence.â
Guthrieâs disappearance is being looked into as a possible abduction. âWe believe she was taken out of the home against her will, and thatâs how this investigation is moving,â Nanos told NBC News on Feb. 2.
The Pima County Attorneyâs Department has even offered a reward of up to $2,500 for any leads about Guthrieâs disappearance. This comes just hours before TMZ reported that they received a possible ransom note in their email, where the sender demanded millions of dollars in the form of Bitcoin.
