After an agonising four-year wait, Peaky Blinders fans finally know when Netflix’s ‘no holds barred’ new chapter arrives on screens.

Over the course of six acclaimed seasons on the BBC, viewers fell in love with Birmingham gang boss Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) as we followed the crime family through two decades of post-World War One upheaval.

A law unto themselves, this gritty, violent and heartpounding watch from creator Steven Knight is back with a feature-length film set in the 1940s led by the Oscar-winning Irish actor and directed by Tom Harper.

‘It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans,’ The Oppenheimer star shared in a new statement.

The official synopsis reads: ‘Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet.

‘With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…’

As Knight teased: ‘The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.’

This is the first time we’re seeing the gang during active wartime, so after six seasons of chaos, viewers will be treated to a whole new side to the Shelbys, their friends and their enemies.

There are plenty of familiar faces, including Sophie Rundle as Ada, Ned Dennehy as Charlie and Stephen Graham as Hayden, as well as Packy Lee and Ian Peck.

Among the new cast, the streets of wartorn Brum will welcome Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson and Jay Lycurgo.

This does mean that, after widespread speculation, it looks as though Tommy’s older brother Arthur (played by Paul Anderson) won’t be back for another round.

Elsewhere, the movie sequel update comes after Knight confirmed this is far from the end for the Peaky Blinders universe.

In October, he said it would return for two more seasons on the BBC and Netflix, telling the story of the next generation of Shelbys.

Although it remains to be seen if Murphy will return as Tommy although he will act as an executive producer on the show. So, this movie may very well be his swan song.

‘OMG THIS IS NOT A DRILL,’ BlindersPeaky shared.

‘Smiling through it all cant believe this my life,’ Reck echoed.

‘I’m about to be so insufferable,’ Emily Lucht joked.

‘Ohhhh man this is gonna be an epic send off to a great character,’ Shane predicted.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man arrives in cinemas on March 6 and on Netflix on March 20, 2026.

All six seasons of Peaky Blinders are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
