Co-creator of the hit Netflix series Outer Banks, Jonas Pate, reportedly physically manhandled a crew member, prompting stars to de-escalate the situation.

The popular coming-of-age show, which first came out in 2020, is currently filming its fifth and final season in Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is where this alleged incident occurred.

Sources told TMZ ‘tensions were high’ on set when Pate is said to have grabbed, shaken and shouted in the face of a female production assistant, with multiple more claiming this was not ‘unusual behaviour’.

One added it was ‘about time that it’s made public’.

As insiders also confirmed to Variety, during the reportedly heated interaction, 33-year-old lead star Chase Stokes (who plays John B) immediately stepped in to protect the P.A.

Another source described to People that Pate ‘didn’t hurt her or try to hurt her. He just crossed a line. Putting your hands on someone is never, ever okay.’

Pate’s representatives have not responded to a request for comment from People.

There is no word on whether this will affect filming.

After season four came out in two parts across October and November 2024, the final season started filming on June 20 this year – totting up a total of 200 million views on the streaming platform in total so far.

The show, also starring Madison Bailey and J.D., follows a group of teens in North Carolina known as the Pogues, who discover a map and embark on a hunt for John B’s father’s missing treasure.

In a statement at the start of filming, showrunners Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke said: ‘We are over the moon to be setting out on one last trip with the Pogues.

‘Being back on set with our cast for this final round is nothing short of bittersweet and surreal. We can’t wait to show everyone what we have in store this season — it’s going to be a wild ride…’

There is currently no release date for Outer Banks season five, which will come out in 2026. Seasons one to four are streaming on Netflix now.

Metro has reached out to representatives for Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline and Netflix for comment.
