Netflix fans have said Maestro in Blue is so good it has been ‘tattooed on their minds’ (Picture: Netflix)
A Netflix thriller that has flown under the radar for UK audiences has been hailed as the perfect binge-watch to beat the January blues.
Set on the sunny Greek island of Paxos, Maestro in Blue features all the key ingredients – murder, mystery, an idyllic location, romance and betrayal – for a gripping TV show.
It follows Orestis (Christoforos Papakaliatis), a troubled musician who directs the revival of a local music festival in Paxos, where he falls in love with ambitious music student Klelia (Klelia Andriolatou).
However, a dark shadow is cast over their summer of fun and blossoming romance when they become embroiled in a gruesome murder.
Maestro in Blue recently returned to Netflix for its third and final season after it became the first-ever Greek scripted series to be picked up by the streamer worldwide.
Viewers have been devouring the mystery romance drama’s last-ever outing – and described it as more like a ‘poem’ than TV.

On X @mercifuIl raved: ‘These two scenes? Tattooed on my mind. I’ve been crying for a whole episode now #maestroinblue.’
@_stilleyerise_ enthused: ‘#MaestroinBlue is as close to perfection as a TV show can get. Gripping. Stunning. Sentimental. The story and its characters are going to stay with me forever. A beautiful ode to the complexity that is human existence.’
@thebookishalex added: ‘This was not a scene, it was a poem #maestroinblue.’
Morgan Freeman is also a fan of Maestro in Blue – dedicating an entire Instagram post to rave about the crime show.

He wrote: ‘If you haven’t had the pleasure of watching Maestro in Blue, you’re truly missing something special. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Paxos—a small Greek island that’s close to my heart—this series is a masterpiece. Mark your calendars, my friends. The third and final season arrives on @Netflix, December 28. Don’t miss it.’
Maestro in Blue is not the only non-English-language Netflix thriller gripping viewers worldwide.
They have also recommended Mexican drama Pact of Silence as the perfect New Year watch.
The telenova follows social media influencer Brenda (Camila Valero) as she infiltrates the lives of four women and best friends, knowing that one is her long-lost mother.

Brenda wants to exact revenge on her mother but her quest to unveil her identity is complicated by the fact the women made a pact to never reveal who gave birth to a baby daughter when they were teenagers.
On Rotten Tomatoes, ShayneO enthused: ‘From the first 10 minutes I was hooked. It’s a great storyline that I totally loved and enjoyed. I found myself up til after mind night watching another episode. Definitely will miss it once I’m done with all the episodes.’
LinZ also added: ‘I absolutely loved this series!!! It is mysterious with many twists and turns which kept me on the edge of my seat. I binge watched all 10 episodes in one day. However, several questions are still not answered. I am very hopeful the writers will create a season 2, maybe more, to keep us on our toes.’
If that don’t tickle your fancy, other highly-rated Netflix shows on Rotten Tomatoes are Supacell, Savage Beauty and The Mole – which all received a perfect 100% on the site’s review aggregator.
Maestro in Blue is available to watch on Netflix.
