Eminem fans wonât have to wait long to watch his new documentary from home. Following a limited theatrical run earlier this month, âStansâ is making its streaming debut later this month, and itâs bringing a raw in-depth look at the rap iconâs relationship with his most dedicated supporters.
âStansâ Premieres on Paramount+ in August Across Multiple Regions
Directed by Steven Leckart and produced by Eminem himself, âStansâ will arrive on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and Brazil on Tuesday, August 26, according to THR. Viewers in the UK, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria can stream it beginning August 27, while fans in Japan will have to wait until October 3. The documentary previously played in select AMC Theatres from August 7â10 and premiered earlier this year at the inaugural SXSW London.
The feature-length film explores the complicated bond between one of the most private artists in music and the global audience thatâs grown with him over decades. It features rare archival footage, stylized recreations, and intimate interviews, offering what the filmmakers call âa raw, loud and revealing journeyâ through Eminemâs career. The title is a nod to the rapperâs 2000 hit âStan,â which turned 25 this year and inspired the addition of the term âstanâ to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017.
“Stans” began its UK-Ireland box office run with £212,163, a great start for a documentary, from 260 sites at an £860 average. The film has earned £352,326 in the region including previews.
Inside the Story and Star-Studded Production Team
According to Leckart, the creative approach was inspired by one key lyric from âStanâ â âIâm just like youâ, with much of the documentary told from the perspective of real-life fans. Eminemâs own voice and perspective are woven throughout, with the filmmaker praising how candid, sincere, and unexpectedly funny the artist was during production.
âStansâ is produced by Shady Films in collaboration with DIGA Studios, Fuqua Films, Interscope Films, and MTV Entertainment Studios. Executive producers include Eminem, Paul Rosenberg, Stuart Parr, “Training Day” director Antoine Fuqua, Tony DiSanto, David Schiff, Bruce Gillmer, Amanda Culkowski, and Michael Maniaci.
To commemorate the film, during the New York City premiere of âStansâ on August 6th Eminem delivered a heartfelt surprise by reuniting with “Final Destination” actor Devon Sawa, who famously portrayed Stan in the original âStanâ music video. Sawa even brought his young son to the event, reflecting on the moment as a powerful, full-circle reunion nearly 25 years in the making.
