New York Yankees Baseball Player Passes Away at 36 — He Will Be Missed

Former Major League Baseball player Jesús Montero has died following a motorcycle crash, TMZ reports. He was 36.

Montero played for the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees, and it was the latter team that announced his passing in a heartfelt tribute posted on X. The sports team posted a photo of Montero holding up a baseball bat and smiling. The caption message reads, “The Yankees are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jesús Montero. We send our sincerest condolences to his family & loved ones.”

The photo also has Montero’s birth and death years, which are 1989 and 2025. Fans have flooded the comment section of the post with heartfelt messages. “Heartbroken by the news of Jesús Montero.  He wasn’t just a player; he was the promise of that era,” a comment reads. “Remembering those days when we witnessed the magic of his bat. RIP Jesús. ​Yankees Family, our thoughts are with you.”

“Was such a great kid when I met him at Spring Training in 2012. So sad to hear this.,” another person shared, along with a photo. 

Other reactions include, “I was at the game in which he hit his first two major league home runs. It was the first game I went to at the current Yankee Stadium. Sending my thoughts to his family after this very tragic news,” and “Oh RIP so sad.”

What Happened to Jesús Montero?

Montero’s accident was reported by The Seattle Times on October 7.  The publication reported that Montero had been involved in a motorcycle crash in his home country, Venezuela, when the incident occurred. He was hit by a truck and taken to a hospital in Valencia, TMZ reports.
