Nicolas Cage is opening up after Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed the two were briefly an item in the ’90s.
The “National Treasure” actor told E! News his version of the split in a statement on Monday, July 14.
“I cared about Sarah, but I don’t think I passed the Mom test,” he said regarding their short lived romance.
Cage added that he never heard from her again after having dinner with her mom.
“I recall sitting down with her and her mother for dinner at the Russian Tea Room, and I don’t know if it was my blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket (which I still have) or my sinusitis, but I didn’t hear from her again,” he noted.
Parker and Cage costarred in the 1992 rom-com “Honeymoon in Vegas.” The “Sex and the City” actress played the love interest to Cage as well as the late James Caan
Parker Confirmed the Relationship on ‘Watch What Happens Live’
The 60-year-old came clean about the relationship while speaking with Bravo’s Andy Cohen in a Sunday, July 13, episode of the ever-popular “Watch What Happens Live.”
Cohen asked the star if she had previously dated Cage.
“Um, yes I did,â Parker told the host. âYes, I did.â
Cohen was clearly not expecting Parker to confirm the prior romance and said, “Oh wow. Weâve got some talking to do.”
Parker did not give any additional details on the romance timeline.
Cage & Parker Have Both Moved On
Parker went on to marry actor Matthew Broderick in 1995 and the two are happily still together. They share a son, James Wilkie, 22, and 13-year-old twins, Tabitha and Marion.
She told Cohen she knew “pretty early” on in the relationship that Broderick was the one.
Cage’s relationship history is a bit more lengthy, as he has been married five times, according to PEOPLE.
He married his first wife, actress Patricia Arquette, in 1995. The two ended up divorcing in 2001. Cage then went on to briefly marry Lisa Marie Presley in 2002, but the two filed for divorce after only a few months.
Cage later went on to marry Alice Kim in July 2004 and welcomed his son Kal-El Coppola a little over a year later. Cage and Kim ultimately called it quits in 2016.
He was briefly married to makeup artist Erika Koike in 2019, but the marriage was quickly annulled.
Cage has been married to Riko Shibata since 2021, and the two welcomed a baby girl, August Francesca Coppola, in September 2022.
