It was been rumoured that Oasis may be considering a return to Knebworth, but the band has finally addressed the rumours with a statement on social media.

Noel and Liam Gallagher’s reunion has sent the British public into a frenzy as fans battle against dynamic pricing to secure themselves a seat at what promises to be one of the most sought-after gigs of the century.

It has been rumoured that in addition to this gig, the Gallagher brothers were considering marking a very special anniversary by returning to Knebworth – the home of one of their most iconic performances of 1996.

A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: ‘A return to Knebworth sounds like a pipe dream but it’s now something that is being considered by Noel and Liam.

‘They are fully committed to their comeback next year and want to see how they gel first before making this idea a reality.’

However, Oasis has shut down these rumours with a clear message on social media: ‘Contrary to reports in some UK tabloid media today, Oasis will not be playing Knebworth Park in the future.

‘There are no plans for any further UK dates beyond the currently announced UK stadium tour.’

Although the brothers have made it clear that Knebworth isn’t on the cards, the source told The Sun that the brothers are aware the tickets would sell themselves – and may want to even an old score.

‘Noel and Liam know that going back to Knebworth would be iconic and given the massive demand for tickets to the reunion tour, they know it would sell.’

It was added that an additional incentive could be to beat Robbie Williams Knebworth’s record after he played to 375,000 over three nights in 2003. In comparison, Oasis played two nights at Knebworth House in August 1996 to 250,000 fans.

‘And naturally, the prospect of breaking Robbie’s record makes the idea even more appealing.

‘There is a love-hate relationship between the three of them, but Noel and Liam know it would be brilliant if they could take Robbie’s crown one last time,’ they said.

Robbie and Oasis have had an ongoing feud for years after Noel called Robbie the ‘fat dancer from Take That’ at the 2000 Brit Awards. Robbie responded by challenging Liam to a fight that would be televised to the world.

Robbie recently ignited his decades-old feud with Oasis as he called their reconciliation ‘fascinating’ in a post on social media and added: ‘‘The soap opera alone will either be exciting and or ghoulish to watch.’

Knebworth House, is a tudor mansion 9 miles east of Luton which has been the home of the Lytton family since 1490.

Knebworth’s owner, Henry Lytton Cobbold told The Sun that he would be happy to host Oasis: ‘Wembley is a reasonable warm-up venue for Knebworth. But get ready for a huge 30th shindig in 2026.

‘That’s what the people want and they seem pretty good at doing what the people want. It would be a great way to have the best party of all parties.’
