Netflix and Tudum Reveal the First Glimpse of ‘OBX’ Final Season
Netflixâs fan hub Tudum unveiled the inaugural photo from set, showing John B. and Sarah gazing over a weather-beaten map while the rest of the crew huddles around. Production officially kicked off this month, and creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke say the final sprint will be an emotional one.
“We are over the moon to be setting out on one last trip with the Pogues,” the trio told Tudum. “Being back on set with our cast for this final round is nothing short of bittersweet and surreal. We canât wait to show everyone what we have in store this season â itâs going to be a wild ride⦔
Netflix confirmed all of the main playersâChase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North, and Fiona Palomoâare returning as series regulars. J. Anthony Crane (Chandler) and Cullen Moss (Sheriff Shoupe) have been promoted to the main cast, hinting that the law and the new villain will loom larger than ever.
What To Expect in ‘Outer Banks’ Season 5
Season 4 of “Outer Banks” ended on a devastating note with the death of JJ, played by Rudy Pankow, at the hands of his father Chandler. While Pankow will not return, the stakes are higher than ever as the Poguesânow joined by Rafeâvow to avenge JJâs death and recover the stolen Blue Crown. According to creator Shannon Burke, this legendary treasure will drive the plot through the series finale. âThe season 4 finale sets the stage for an epic fifth and final season, and the Blue Crown should carry us through all the way to the end,â Burke told Tudum.
With Pankow gone, the story will shift its emotional weight to Drew Starkeyâs Rafe, Carlacia Grantâs Cleo, and Chandler, whoâs confirmed as the primary antagonist. The promotion of Crane and Moss suggests that both Chandler and Sheriff Shoupe will play major roles as the Pogues face off against enemies both criminal and legal.
In a heartfelt letter shared with fans, the creators explained that they always envisioned “Outer Banks” as a five-season arc. âWe imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship,â they wrote. âNow, with a little sadness, but also excitement, weâre turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago.â
Netflix has not announced an official premiere date for “Outer Banks” season 5.
