One of Ozzy Osbourne’s bandmates recalled the unexpected moment they felt his presence during the rock legend’s funeral.
Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo appeared on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk” on Thursday, Aug. 7 and shared what occurred when Kelly Osbourne sang during the July 31 funeral.
Trujillo was also a longtime member of Ozzy Osbourneâs backing band.
He told the host that the weather did not start off well. “It had been raining at the beginning of the service⦠and then as it sort of progressed through the service, the weather would change and different things would happen,” he said.
He mentioned how Kelly Osbourne’s lyrics flew away as she sang during the funeral.
“When Kelly was singing, her lyrics flew. Like the wind blew her lyrics away,” he told the host. “It was almost like Ozzy was having fun with her.â
Ozzy Once Said He Wanted His Funeral to Have ‘Pranks’
The Black Sabbath frontman once answered fan questions in April 2011 for The Sunday Times and addressed how he wanted his funeral to be.
He revealed, “I honestly donât care what they play at my funeral; they can put on a medley of Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle and We Are the Diddymen if it makes âem happy â but I do want to make sure itâs a celebration, not a mope-fest.”
“Iâd also like some pranks: maybe the sound of knocking inside the coffin; or a video of me asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of ‘death,’” he noted.
Ozzy’s Funeral Was Filled With His Closest Friends & Family
Ozzy Osbourne was buried on the grounds of his 250-acre estate in Buckinghamshire in a small ceremony.
Singers Marilyn Manson, Elton John, and Yungblud were just a few of the A-listers who were in attendance, per the Sun.
The ceremony occurred the day after thousands of fans attended a funeral procession through the city of Birmingham.
Trujillo added how the ceremony was “beautiful,” while speaking on the SiriusXM show.
âIt was a small group of people but it was very, very beautiful,” he continued.
“It was very sad, but at the same time, some of the speeches were, as you could imagine, pretty funny,â he continued. âPeople sharing stories and all of a sudden thereâs laughter, and âI remember this, I remember that.â Thereâs so many stories. It felt like there was closure from this.”
Ozzy Osbourne’s death was shocking as he had just completed his farewell concert only a couple of weeks prior.
