Paris Hilton Recalls Haircut Mishap That Turned Into a Y2K Trend

That’s hot! Paris Hilton made a disatrous situation into a style statement when she had her hair accidentally cut short in the early 2000s.

“I was not paying attention, just like on my phone and then I looked up and I had like long hair all the way down to my waist at this point, and I looked up and he had cut my hair all the way to my ears,” she told Us Weekly in an interview published on August 27.

The “Simple Life” star continued, “I was so in shock and I looked in the mirror and I didn’t know what to say. He’s like ‘Do you like it?’ And I went to the bathroom and called my sister crying.”

Hilton said that with the help of extensions, they turned the chop into a short bob. “Then it became a trend, and everyone started cutting their hair. So, I was like, ‘OK,’” she shared.

Back in 2001, Hilton debuted a super short haircut that made waves, but that’s one style she’s happy to leave in the past.

“My Tinkerbell haircut was very in back then, but when I look at it now, I am like, ‘It was just so short,’” she told Vogue in June 2024.

Hilton continued, “I don’t think I would ever do that again. I love a cute bob, but that was just something else.”

The DJ is known for her signature waist-length blonde hair, which she rarely deviates from. However, despite not wanting to go short again, Hilton rocked a bob a few more times over the years.

It may not be her Tinkerbell haircut from the 2000s, but Hilton went short again for her Karl Lagerfeld campaign.

In an Instagram post shared on August 27, Hilton is seen wearing a suit and tie with her hair cut into a blunt bob.

“This is Karl’s world, seen through @parishilton ‘s lens. She steps into the Maison KARL LAGERFELD with her unique charisma — blending her signature shimmer with her own spin on French elegance,” the caption read.

“ABSOLUTELY ICONIC,” a fan raved. Another quipped, “That’s Haute.”

Back in 2021, Hilton chopped off her locks into a shoulder-grazing lob, which she shared on Instagram.

“I was so inspired by my new @LanvinOfficial campaign that I had my hair cut short. What do you all think about my new look?” she wrote.

“So flattering and fresh! Prefer this shorter length to really long hair!” a fan replied. “Literally love this,” another shared.
