In her tribute, Caitlin struggled to capture her father in words, saying his spirit was unlike anyone else’s. “It’s difficult to put into words how to describe someone like my dad. Mostly because there really was no one like him,” she wrote.

She explained that one word has stayed with her since his passing.

“But lately, I’ve found myself saying the word proud a lot. I’m proud of the life he created. I’m proud of him for following his dreams. I’m proud of him for marrying the love of his life. I’m proud of him for being the most genuine and selfless person every day. I’m proud of him for the fight he fought and never giving up. But most of all, I am so proud to be his daughter.”

Love That Moves in Both Directions

Caitlin acknowledged her father’s constant encouragement and reassurance, in return offering a promise. “I know you’re proud of us, but I promise we are prouder of you.”

Her words captured the mutual admiration that defined their relationship, shaped by support, humor, and unconditional love. The loss has left Caitlin grappling with unanswered questions and moments she wishes they could still share.

“I wish we had more time because there are still so many more questions I have, stories I want to hear, and movies I want to watch together, even if we end up talking the whole time,” she wrote.

She added a tender reflection rooted in her father’s love for comedy and friendship.

“Which now I’m sure Chris Farley is talking your ear off after reuniting.”

Caitlin shared that she feels both changed and guided by her father’s absence.

“I’m so lucky to have had 28 years with you. A part of me will never be the same, and I don’t know how the world keeps moving without you in it, but I will carry you with me in everything I do.”

She found comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering. “I find comfort in knowing you are out of pain and are back with some of the greatest people.”

She closed her tribute by honoring a phrase her father lived by.
