Pete Davidson Opens Up About Becoming a Dad: ‘It’s My Dream’

Pete Davidson has made plenty of headlines over the years. He’s no stranger to major news; that’s an understatement. We have all of the “SNL” antics, wild tattoos, and high-profile romances to thank for that, of course. But now, he’s stepping into a whole new role. Yes, the favorite viral comedian is getting ready to become a dad. It’s his most important role thus far. The 31-year-old comedian and actor confirmed he and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt are expecting their first child. Safe to say he’s not holding back on how thrilled he is.

During a candid chat with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show,” Davidson lit up when the topic of baby news came up. “I did it!” he joked, before getting real. “If anybody knows me, it’s my dream to be a dad, so I’m so excited.” Fallon chimed in with a grin, saying Davidson’s going to be a “fantastic dad.” Honestly, it’s hard to disagree.

Davidson added, “I’m excited to see [Elsie] be a mom, so we’re stoked.” He even shared that the news has shifted his priorities. “Everything else doesn’t really matter anymore. It’s nice.”

According to multiple news outlets, the baby is expected to arrive this winter, and judging by Davidson’s recent interviews, he’s been waiting for this moment for a long time.

Pete Davidson Is All In on Fatherhood

Let’s rewind a bit. Davidson first opened up about his desire to become a father in 2022 during an episode of Hart to Heart with Kevin Hart. “My favorite thing ever, which I have yet to achieve, I wanna have a kid,” he told Hart. “I’m so excited for that chapter.” He added that losing his dad on 9/11 made him want to give a child the love and stability he missed.

“I assume you just try to give them what you didn’t have, and what you didn’t like—not do it,” he told E! News. Davidson also said he wants to “take care of something and show it the childhood I didn’t have.” It’s not just about becoming a dad, it’s about rewriting his own narrative.

And when it comes to parenting advice? He’s got support. “Everybody’s just been super excited for me, because they know it’s been my dream,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “Sandler gave me some great advice. Colin [Jost] did too.”

Who Is Elsie Hewitt, Pete’s Girlfriend & Baby Mama?

If the name Hewitt doesn’t ring a bell, you’re about to see a lot more of her. The 29-year-old model and actress went public with her pregnancy on July 16, posting a cheeky Instagram caption, “Welp, now everyone knows we had sex.” This, along with an adorable ultrasound video and some hilarious memes.

The couple started dating earlier this year, going Instagram official after paparazzi caught them packing on the PDA during a beach day in Palm Beach. Sources close to the couple say the pregnancy wasn’t exactly planned, but both are “over the moon.”

“She’s going to be a great mom,” Davidson said. “She’s one of my favorite people to ever exist ever.”

Their relationship has been described as playful, grounded, and, most importantly, healthy. “This has brought them closer,” a source told Us Weekly. “It’s a healthy relationship for Pete. He couldn’t have done it a few years ago, but he’s in a very different place in life now.”

From Ariana to Elsie: A New Chapter for Pete

Let’s be honest, Davidson’s dating history has been a wild ride. He was famously engaged to pop sensation Ariana Grande and made major headlines when her famous song, with his name attached to it, hit streaming platforms. He’s also made major headlines for being a Casanova, having famous flings with Kim Kardashian, Kate Beckinsale, Kaia Gerber, Cazzie David, Margaret Qualley, Chase Sui Wonders, and yes, “Outer Banks’” Madelyn Cline. But this time around, the actor says things felt a little bit different.

This isn’t just about a new relationship or another tabloid romance; this is about legacy. “I hope to be the dad I hoped I would have,” Davidson said simply.

And really, what could be more Davidson than turning his past into purpose? Bottom line, the ‘SNL’ alum is about to take on the biggest role of his life; he’s about to be a dad. And for a guy who’s turned heartbreak, humor, and healing into a career, fatherhood might just be his best act yet.
