The Surfing Accident That Has Impacted Amy Schumerâs Health
Schumerâs update on her health is not the first time she has mentioned the surfing accident. In a 2016 interview with Vanity Fair, she got candid about the incident that happened when she was a teenager.
“I have a pretty bad scar on my leg from surfing,” she told Vanity Fair. “Forty-one stitches, three layers. I skegged myself. My whole fin went into my leg, and I had to yank it out. I was by myself.”
She managed to make her way to the shore and recruited the help of a stranger to stop the bleeding. “I was like, ‘I need you to hold my leg.’ I was delegating,â she recalled. âAnd he held my leg closed with his bare hands â just fat and blood coming out.”
She never did learn of his identity, but she remains grateful to the stranger, crediting him for saving her life that day. “I wish I knew who that guy was, because he saved my life, for sure. He had blue toenail polish and nail polish; he had long stringy hair,â she said. âAnd I remember him being beautiful. Anyway, he held my leg closed.”
