Bezos posted a picture of his mother, Jacklyn, and the years of her birth and death. The text overlay reads, “1946 – 2025.” In the caption, Bezos shared his thoughts with a beautiful and emotional message paying tribute to the woman who raised him since she was a teenager.

“Her adulthood started a little bit early when she became my mom at the tender age of 17,” he wrote. “That couldn’t have been easy, but she made it all work. She pounced on the job of loving me with ferocity, brought my amazing dad onto the team a few years later, and then added my sister and brother to her list of people to love, guard, and nourish. For the rest of her life, that list of people to love never stopped growing. She always gave so much more than she ever asked for.”

Bezos revealed that his mother had “a long fight” with Lewy Body Dementia and that her loved ones surrounded her at the time of her death. “We were all so lucky to be in her life. I hold her safe in my heart forever,” he wrote. “Jacklyn Gise Bezos, December 29, 1946 – August 14, 2025.”

The Amazon founder ended his message with a heartfelt statement, writing, “I love you, mom.”

Bezos’ wife, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, reacted to the post announcing Jacklyn’s passing. She wrote, “We will miss her SO much. Love you.” She included a red heart emoji and a broken heart emoji.
