Tatiana Schlossberg‘s death at just 35 years old was among the most heartbreaking tragedies to hit the Kennedy family in recent years. As friends, family, and the public continued to mourn, the JFK Library Foundation honored her memory with an Instagram post showing Schlossberg in one of the last photos of her enjoying time with her family.

In the photo, Schlossberg, Caroline Kennedy’s daughter, smiles alongside her husband and their two children. As People reported, the photo was taken just three months before Schlossberg’s passing. “As we remember Tatiana and celebrate her life, our hearts are with her family and all who loved her,” the caption reads. Fans flooded the comments section with love and condolences for Schlossberg, who died on December 30, 2025, and the family she leaves behind.

Schlossberg made a name for herself as a journalist, so it was only fitting that she addressed her cancer diagnosis in a written account. In November 2025, The New Yorker published a heartbreaking essay called “A Battle With My Blood.” In it, Schlossberg details learning that she had leukemia shortly after giving birth to her daughter. “I did not—could not—believe that they were talking about me,” she said of her initial reaction to the news. “I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. I wasn’t sick. I didn’t feel sick.”

In the essay, she wrote about her painful battle through chemotherapy and other treatments, the writing she had planned to do next, and even commented on her cousin, RFK Jr.’s, stance on health care. Of course, the essay largely touches on a topic central to her life at the time: the husband and children she so happily sat beside in the JFK Library Foundation photo.

In 2017, Schlossberg married George Moran, a urologist., after they originally met at Yale University. Beautiful photos from the big day show the couple grinning in a picturesque outdoor setting. Five years later, they welcomed their first child, Edwin. Daughter Josephine followed two years later, arriving in May 2024.

Her family are a major focus in “A Battle With My Blood,” and the heartfelt words she wrote about them make her passing even more tragic. “He is perfect,” Schlossberg wrote of her husband. “And I feel so cheated and so sad that I don’t get to keep living the wonderful life I had with this kind, funny, handsome genius I managed to find.”

After learning that her illness was terminal, Schlossberg wasn’t just facing the end of her life, but the end of watching her family grow up. “My first thought was that my kids, whose faces live permanently on the inside of my eyelids, wouldn’t remember me,” she wrote. The essay also includes a photo of Schlossberg in her parents’ home, her appearance markedly changed by cancer treatments. She would have been 36 in May 2026.
