Jim Carrey's $17 Million Mansion

After more than two years on the market, Jim Carrey has closed the sale on his luxurious Brentwood estate. The “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” star finalized the deal for $17 million, significantly lower than the $28.9 million he initially asked for in early 2023. The sale still marks a huge profit over the $3.8 million he paid in 1994, during the same year his breakout comedies such as “Dumb and Dumber” made him one of Hollywood’s most bankable actors.

Jim Carrey Sells Los Angeles Luxury Home After 30-Month Wait

Carrey, whose filmography spans beloved comedies like “The Mask” and “Liar Liar” to more recent roles in “Sonic the Hedgehog” and the Showtime series “Kidding,” spent 30 months trying to secure a buyer. Price reductions over the years brought the listing down from nearly $29 million to its final $17 million closing price.

According to TMZ, the 10,954-square-foot home sits on more than two acres in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Inside, the residence includes five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and six fireplaces. Architectural details such as brick hallways, hardwood floors, and soaring ceilings give it a classic feel, while a custom Art Deco movie theater complete with a popcorn concessions room adds a cinematic touch fitting for the star of “Bruce Almighty.” The primary suite offers a private balcony with sweeping views, and the property also features a wine cellar and an art gallery.

The outdoor amenities turn the estate into a private resort. Features include a lighted tennis court, a waterfall pool and spa, a pool house with a wet bar, steam room, and infrared sauna, plus a treetop yoga and meditation platform. A gazebo provides a shaded retreat, while the grounds’ landscaping offers both beauty and privacy.

The combination of entertainment spaces and relaxation areas mirrors the kind of versatility Carrey has shown in his career—from slapstick hits like “Dumb & Dumber To” to dramatic turns in films such as “The Truman Show” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”

With Graham J. Larson of Sotheby’s International Realty handling the sale, Carrey’s long effort to find the right buyer has finally paid off. While the final price was well below his original target, the deal still delivered a substantial return and closed a chapter on a home that’s been part of his life for over three decades.
