Surrounded by flowers and fans, Slipknot’s Sid Wilson offered quiet support to the Osbourne family at the farewell for rock icon Ozzy Osbourne in Birmingham today.
The DJ, who is engaged to Ozzy’s daughter Kelly, was photographed in several touching moments holding their young son as the city honored the music legend. Wilsonâs presence showed his deep connection to the family, as he offered support during a difficult time of both private and public grief.

A Public Tribute to a Rock Legend
On Wednesday afternoon, thousands of fans lined Broad Street in Birmingham to see the funeral procession for the 76-year-old music star. The hearse traveled with a police escort and a brass band on its final journey through the city.
In a particularly moving moment, Wilson held his and Kelly’s 20-month-old son, Sidney. He then showed him the large collection of flowers and gifts that fans had left at the Black Sabbath Bridge.
The sense of loss was strong in the crowd. Rocky Shades, the 65-year-old singer for the band Wrathchild, came to Broad Street to honor his hero. He told BirminghamLive that finding a Black Sabbath album when he was young completely changed his life. âOzzy has always been a part of my life,â he shared. âOzzy has been the the beating heart of this city.â
The procession took place just weeks after Ozzyâs final show at Villa Park on July 5. At the charity concert, the rock legend told his fans, “You’ve no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart.“

From Ozzfest Friend to Future Son-in-Law
Sid Wilson’s supporting role for the Osbourne family comes after a relationship that has lasted for decades. The 48-year-old is a DJ for the band Slipknot. He first met Kelly back in 1999 when his band was touring with Ozzfest, as reported by The Independent.
They were friends for over 20 years before they started dating in 2022 and later had their son. Their connection grew even stronger just weeks before Ozzyâs death during a special moment backstage.

After Ozzy’s final concert, Wilson proposed to Kelly in front of their family and friends. In a video posted on Instagram, Wilson took her hand and said, âKelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world.â Ozzy jokingly interrupted, yelling, â[Expletive] off! Youâre not marrying my daughter.â
Wilson laughed and continued, âNothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of my life with you… Kelly, will you marry me?â A surprised Kelly gave an excited ‘yes,’ and the family cheered. This recent engagement, which included Ozzy’s playful blessing, happened just weeks before his passing.
The timing of the engagement adds particular significance to Wilson’s presence at the memorial. His role was not just that of a fellow musician, but of a supportive fiancé and an integral part of the Osbourne family.
