Piers Morgan’s ex-wife was involved in a freak accident, which her family feared she would never recover from.

The TV presenter and journalist was married to Marion Shalloe for 17 years from 1991 until 2008, with the pair sharing three sons together, Albert, Stanley, and Spencer.

Their son Spencer, has revealed that months ago, his mother was involved in an ‘accident’ that left her doctors without much hope for her survival.

Sharing the story on social media, Spencer shared images of his mother in the hospital with a caption that read: ‘Seven months ago our mum was involved in a freak accident which left her fighting for her life…’

He revealed that his mother has spent 218 days in hospital after being admitted in mid-December.

‘We were told on more than one occasion that there was little hope if any but against all odds she hung on in there and thanks to the two heroic surgeons in the third pic and countless others at @chelwestft she left hospital today after 218 days on the ward.’
