Multiple skins for Kim Kardashian are coming to Fortnite this weekend, although you can unlock one slightly earlier in a special contest.
We should really stop being confused whenever a real-life celebrity is added to Fortnite, allowing them to run around with guns and shoot the likes of Darth Vader and Homer Simpson, before doing the floss dance in victory.
From musicians like Sabrina Carpenter to footballers like Neymar Junior, there’s clearly no limit to who can show up as a playable skin next. So, it isn’t that surprising to see TV star Kim Kardashian be announced for the battle royale.
Not only that, but she’s getting an entire event themed around her, with the top prize being early access to one of her skins.
Dubbed the Kim Kardashian Icon Cup, it’s scheduled to take place on Friday, December 12, athough Epic Games’ website doesn’t mention exactly what time it starts.
In fact, the event details mostly consist of boring legalese, but the important part is that it will be a solo battle royale, making it a pure free-for-all.
There will be event sessions that last three hours each and you’re allowed to take part in up to 10 matches per session. All you have to do is rack up as many points as possible to climb a leaderboard.

To unlock the Iconic Kim Kardashian skin (which sees her in a skintight black outfit with her hair tied up), you need to be in the top 2350 of the leaderboard by the end of the event. You’ll also be rewarded a Ring Light To Go backbling.
It sounds like these cosmetics will be available in the in-game store from December 13 anyway, although you’ll obviously need to spend money on them, and Epic has yet to share pricing.
Thanks to frequent Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, we also know these won’t be the only Kim Kardashian cosmetics. She’s getting several, including alternate variants of the Iconic skin and one that has her in a fur coat instead.
It’s still jarring seeing real life celebrities agree to put themselves in games where they can shoot people, especially when they’re not in character. This isn’t Kardashian playing a role; this is meant to be her getting into gunfights, though Fortnite’s cartoonish visuals and lack of blood does downplay the violence.
Celebrity cameos in Fortnite certainly make more sense than in Call Of Duty. After years of being a fairly grounded military shooter, the series began adding immersion breaking celebrity skins for the likes of Nicki Minaj and Seth Rogen, although widespread backlash to their inclusions may have prompted Activision to tone them down going forward.
