Police Investigating After Theft Outside Joaquin Phoenix’s Home

Joaquin Phoenix’s car was stolen outside of his Los Angeles home on Monday, April 28, TMZ reports.

According to law enforcement, who are now investigating the theft, Phoenix was not at his house when his 2022 Volvo SUV was stolen.

The outlet added that it was one of Phoenix’s employees who noticed the car was missing and contacted LAPD.

No arrests have been made, and the case is still ongoing.

In 2019, Joaquin Phoenix transformed into the “Joker” for the hit movie directed by Todd Phillips. It grossed over $1 billion at the box office, making it the first R-rated movie to hit that mark, according to Forbes. The movie’s success led to another.

In 2024, Phoenix reprised his role in the sequel, “Joker: Folie À Deux.” However, this movie did not have the same success as the first, grossing $206 million globally.  

Joaquin Phoenix Details His ‘Joker’ Diet

When preparing for the first movie, Phoenix revealed that he lost 52 pounds when preparing to become Arthur Fleck. During that time, he revealed his diet was just lettuce and steamed vegetables.

“I’m not going to talk through specifics of the diet, because I just think nobody wants to hear that. But this time, it felt a bit more complicated just because there was so much dance rehearsal that we were doing, which I didn’t have last time,” Phoenix said when reflecting on his diet at the Venice Film Festival in 2024 (per Variety). “So it felt a bit more difficult, but it is safe. But you’re right, I’m now 49, I probably shouldn’t do this again. This is probably it for me.”

“I know I was responsible last time for talking about it, but it’s difficult to do so that becomes your obsession because you’re working the entire time to get to a certain weight,” he added. “So then you end up talking about it, and then it just sounds like an actor going on and on about how much weight they lost. By the end of that run I was so sick of myself and angry at myself for making such a big deal about that part, because you just do what you’re fucking supposed to do. So this time I was like, ‘I’m not going to do that.’”
