A Polly Pocket movie has been confirmed, with Emily in Paris star Lily Collins taking on the lead role, and Reese Witherspoon co-developing the project.
Since its release, studios have been desperately trying to recreate this success, but a Polly Pocket movie has been in the works for several years by the creators of the Barbie film.
In a new step forward in the project, Mattel Studios’ Polly Pocket movie with Amazon MGM Studios has now confirmed screenwriters Jordan Weiss and Dan Brier are penning the script, Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine is also co-developing the action feature, and Lily Collins is set to star as Polly herself, per Deadline.
But despite Lena dropping out, Lily has stayed on the project, also producing the film.

In 2021, when her association with the project was first confirmed, Lily said: ‘I’m so excited to partner with this inspiring powerhouse of a team. Developing this project with Robbie, Lena, Mattel and MGM to reintroduce Polly in a fun, modern way has been such a treat.
‘As a child who was obsessed with Polly Pocket, this is a real dream come true, and I can’t wait to bring these tiny toys to the big screen.’
According to Deadline, the plot revolves around ‘a young girl and a pocket-sized woman who form a friendship.’
Polly Pocket first launched in 1989 with a series of tiny collectables. The beloved miniature doll came in her own clamshell case that opened to form dollhouses and other playsets.
In 2018, Mattel reintroduced the toy with updates as a much larger toy, spawning an animated TV specials and YouTube content.
