Welcome to 2025 in pop culture (we think) (Picture: GETTY/REX)
It’s been a big year in pop culture from the explosion of Brat and Chappell Roan to Taylor Swift’s unexpected romance, I’m A Celebrity wildness, and This Morning drama. But what’s in store for 2025?
While we don’t have a crystal ball or the benefit of time travel, Metro has some inklings up our sleeves about what could come in 2025 in the world of pop culture.
Will Tay-Tay and Travis last the year? What’s next for Charli XCX? And will Oasis manage to perform their comeback tour without a catastrophic fall out?
We’ve got our new 2025 specs on, and are going to try and foresee all your most burning showbiz questions. You’re very welcome.
Oasis manage handful of shows before almighty fall out
The brothers may continue to Look Back in Anger (Picture: SIMON EMMET/FEAR PR/HANDOUT/EPA-)
After a 13-year feud, Gallagher brothers Noel and Liam have reconciled and are touring in 2025 (in case you haven’t heard…).
But given Liam’s penchant for outbursts and chaos, and Noel’s admission that they had a backstage fistfight before calling Oasis quits in 2009, it’s not exactly looking hopeful that they will last their whole 17 UK dates.
We predict they will perform a grand total of five shows before Liam calls his brother a loser and Noel storms off stage. We have a feeling after that there will be no performances but just two brothers who can’t help but Look Back in Anger.
Charli XCX goes fully Brat and quits music
Charli XCX is going to have a career change (Picture: Stefanie Keenan/Getty Images for LACMA)
After the 2024 cultural movement that was Brat summer – all created by Charli XCX and her popping album – we predict there will be a shift for the superstar.
Not one to follow no rules – as is the crux of Brat – Charli will say see’ya to music and turn her attention to acting.
Nope, we haven’t plucked this one from thin air either. Charli told Billboard earlier this year that Brat might just be her last album.
‘I saw this tweet the other day that was like, “Does anyone think that this is Charli’s last album?”… Then I was like, “Actually, that could be cool if I didn’t really make music anymore after this,”‘ she said.
‘I’m definitely thinking about it because I really want to act.’
She’s certainly working to make her acting career happen, as Charli is billed to be in seven films in the coming years.
Charli was pictured in costume while filming for 100 Nights of Hero, an on screen adaptation of Isabel Greenberg’s popular graphic novel.
Elsewhere, she’s set to appear in Erupcja, erotic thriller I Want Your Sex, Amazon comedy Overcompensating, the Faces of Death reboot, The Gallerist alongside Catherine Zeta Jones, and Sacrifice – a Joan of Arc semi-inspired biopic with Anya Taylor-Joy and Salma Hayek.
Goodbye, Brat.
The new James Bond actor is finally announced
Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Picture: Pablo Cuadra/WireImage)
Could 2025 be the year that we find out who will take over from Daniel Craig as the next James Bond?
We’ve been waiting for six years since Craig announced No Time To Die would be his last film, and the odds are stacking up in favour of some potential 007s.
We reckon it will be Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Callum Turner or maybe (fingers crossed) Cillian Murphy – although he could easily be a kick-ass villain too…
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce split
2025 could see the beginning or the end for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce (Picture: Patrick Smith/Getty Images)
Taylor Swift’s relationship to NFL star Travis Kelce is going to go one of two ways this year, we reckon. That’s totally south or to marriage-ville, and we think it will be the former.
Not to be a kill joy, but more because we hope for the sake of Swifties everywhere they will break up and she will turn around an album all about it in the space of, like, two weeks.
That would be something to behold.
Matty Healy gets totally naked on stage
He will be starkers, people (Picture: Barry Brecheisen/WireImage)
Matty Healy has hit the headlines many times over the past few years for his wild on stage antics, from kissing fans to eating raw meat on stage.
But we’re imagining he might take things up a notch in 2025 and perform on stage totally naked. You heard it here first.
Chappell Roan takes over the world
She’s your favourite artist’s favourite artist – and now yours… (Picture: Astrida Valigorsky/Getty Images)
Chappell Roan has undoubtedly been one of the biggest breakout stars of 2024, and her success is going to continue into this year.
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess has rocketed to international heights, and Chappell, 26, has already teased new music could be on the horizon for her millions of fans.
Let’s pray it’s going to be another upward trajectory for the living legend.
We find out Zendaya and Tom Holland are actually married
Tom Holland and Zendaya will be together forever (we really hope) (Picture: Kevin Winter/Getty Images)
Okay, so Tom Holland and Zendaya are pretty much everyone’s favourite celebrity couple, having gone public with their relationship in 2021 after meeting on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016.
They are pretty private about their relationship – but vocally totally obsessed with each other – so we wouldn’t be totally surprised if 2025 is the year we learnt the lovebirds are actually married, and have been for a while.
Watch this space.
Denise Welch takes on Elon Musk
Denise Welch could take on Elon Musk in 2025 – and we’d love to see it (Picture: Brett Cove/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images)
2025 will see more celebrities come out of the woodworks with vocal criticism of X owner and billionaire Elon Musk.
With him in Donald Trump’s cabinet, when the tangerine man takes office on January 20 there will be lots of chat about Musk.
We predict a Denise Welch rant and some stern words from the Coronation Street star towards the US mogul, and frankly, we cannot wait. It wouldn’t be out of the X-world realms if Musk even commented on it.
Denise vs Elon is happening, people.
Katie Price returns to the jungle… With Wayne Rooney
Katie Price returnin to the I’m A Celeb jungle would be pretty epic (Picture: Dave Benett/Getty Images for WFTV Awards)
After Katie Price’s psychic predicted a big TV deal for the former glamour model in 2025, we are thinking she might take a trip back into the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here jungle after the huge success of the last season.
Of course, Katie famously met Peter Andre on the 2004 series, and went on to get married and have two children together, before Katie returned to Oz again in 2009.
Where there is Katie, there may also be Wayne Rooney, after Coleen Rooney’s triumphant appearance on the most recent series leaving Wagatha Christie obsessives on tenterhooks throughout.
Eminem headlines Glastonbury with surprise appearance
Eminem on the Pyramid Stage would be quite something (Picture: Scott Legato/Getty Images)
With only Sir Rod Stewart confirmed for the Glastonbury 2025 line up, speculation is rife about who could be headliners.
Between names like Greenday, Olivia Rodrigo and Harry Styles sits Eminem following his 12th album release, The Death of Slim Shady.
He would certainly light up Worthy Farm from the Pyramid Stage in a way we haven’t seen before.
Perhaps the 52-year-old’s White Flag collaborator Dido will also be making an appearance…
Spice Girls reunite with Victoria Beckham

The Spice Girls are long due a reunion. After the famous five were videoed dancing together at Victoria Beckham’s – aka Posh Spice – 50th birthday bash in April, speculation began that this could be a sign of things to come.
Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Mel C, and Emma Bunton did reunite for a 2019 reunion tour, but alas, Victoria was nowhere to be seen. The last time the quintlet performed together as a whole was at the London Olympics closing ceremony in 2012.
Maybe it’s time.
Brooklyn Beckham finally finds dream career

Brooklyn Beckham has taken to many different professions in his 25 years having dabbled in photography and in recent years doing his online food videos. Now, he’s even got a hot sauce.
However, while his online cheffing antics have drawn a lot of attention, it’s not always been for the right reasons. Many people trolled the eldest Beckham child for cooking ‘raw’ beef and teaching followers how to make a, erm, sandwich.
But June last year saw Brooklyn take to a travel advert and poke fun at himself – and it was truly brilliant. Perhaps 2025 will see Brooklyn getting his own cooking show mockumentary. That is something we would love to see.
Could we have found the new Philomena Cunk of cooking shows?
Gemma Collins lands her own chat show – ‘The GC’
The GC would make a fabulous TV host (Picture: Dave Benett/Getty Images for Warner Bros.)
This is a pipe dream most Brits would likely love to see: Gemma Collins with her own chat show.
The Only Way Is Essex star is one of the most beloved TV faces, with her many iconic reactions always the subject of social media memes – and of course the lingering memory of her falling through the stage at the Radio 1 Teen Awards.
Rihanna still doesn’t release new music
It’s been nine years – but don’t hold your breath for a Rihanna album in 2025 (Picture: Christopher Polk/NBC via Getty Images)
It’s been nine years now since Rihanna last released an album, with 2016’s Anti. While the Umbrella hitmaker, 36, welcomed her son RZA in 2022 and Riot Rose in 2023 with ASAP Rocky, she’s been recording music for years now.
However, while we’ve thought the new music drop would come for a few years now, we’re not holding our breath.
We predict the Rihanna radio silence will continue into 2025, perhaps with a comeback in 2026 after a nice rounded 10-year break.
Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet tie the knot
Chalamet-Jenner wedding anyone? (Picture: Christopher Polk/Golden Globes 2024/Golden Globes 2024 via Getty Images)
While no one predicted the Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet romance, we reckon they could announce an engagement in 2025.
What would ensue is the wildest reunion of megastars we’ve seen since Posh and Becks tied the knot in 2001.
Imagine the likes of Timothee’s BFF Zendaya and Kylie’s pals Justin and Hayley Bieber all uniting in a 1am singalong to Wonderwall…
Hear’Say reunite
Hear’Say’s Suzanne Shaw, Myleene Klass, Noel Sullivan, Kym Marsh and Danny Foster are well overdue a comeback (Picture: Western Mail Archive/Mirrorpix/Getty Images)
Save the Spice Girls, it seems a whole load of 90s and 00s bands have reunited in the past few years from Oasis to S Club 7 – but one band who haven’t yet is Hear’Say.
Made up of Suzanne Shaw, Myleene Klass, Kym Marsh, Danny Foster and Noel Sullivan, Hear’Say split in 2002 just two years after forming on TV show Popstars.
With bangers including Pure and Simple and Everybody released in this time, they’ve definitely got enough up their short but mighty sleeve to whip out for a few reunion tour dates.
Richard Osman goes on Celebrity Traitors and wins
Richard Osman would be the ultimate Traitors contestant (Picture: David Levenson/Getty Images)
Author of hilarious crime thriller novel The Thursday Murder Club, Richard Osman would be brilliantly placed for an appearance on Celebrity Traitors.
He will of course, with his experience in all things murder-mystery, win. Whether he would be a Traitor or a Faithful contestant on the BBC show is up for debate.
Other names floated about for Celebrity Traitors 2025 have included the likes of actor Stephen Fry, soap legend Danny Dyer and Friends star Courteney Cox.
This Morning has a total overhaul
Alison Hammond is the This Morning queen – and ITV will likely want more big characters like her on the presenting team (Picture: Dave Benett/Getty Images for #Merky)
After Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby left ITV’s flagship magazine show in 2023, it’s got a little bit quiet – save the brilliant Alison Hammond, who with her booming and beloved personality is bringing the laughs.
Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard replaced the famous pair after their This Morning exit, but Metro predicts there will be another shake-up with ITV looking for some more Alison-esque big personalities to keep the morning show fresh.
Tune in this time next year to see if any of Metro’s predictions have come true!
