Joss Stone has explained she has ‘Irish twins incoming’ as she gets closer to giving birth.

The English singer-songwriter rose to fame with her debut album The Soul Sessions in 2003, with her second album Body & Soul reaching the top of the UK Album Charts the following year.

Throughout her career she’s sold over 15 million records worldwide and has won two Brit Awards and a Grammy.

In 2020 Joss announced she was pregnant with her first child with her now-husband Cody DaLuz.

Since giving birth to their daughter Violet in January 2021, they’ve also welcomed son Shakleton in 2022 and in December last year revealed they’d adopted a baby boy – Bear.

But just a few weeks later the 38-year-old shared that she was also pregnant for the third time with their fourth child.

At the time Joss said that after finding out she was set to have another child: ‘Shocked was an understatement.’

She’s now shared an update with fans, explaining how she will soon have ‘Irish twins’.

‘Soon this little love is going to become a twin,’ she posted on Instagram alongside a video holding Bear.

‘They will be the same age for four months.

‘What a beautiful happening. Baby comes on the 14th of June now.’

She continued: ‘So excited. And a little scared. I just can’t wait to get all of my babies safe in my arms finally.’

Captioning the post Joss also wrote: ‘Happy #mummymondays. Hope you have all had a great start to the week. Baby is coming in 26 days!!!! Eeek. So excited. Irish twins incoming. Slightly nervous about the way babe is turning up but I’ve done it before I’ll do it again. I’m just suuuuuper ready now. #love #expandingfamily.’

When revealing her latest pregnancy publicly, Joss shared a series of images holding a pregnancy test which shows a positive result.

What are ‘Irish twins’?

The term ‘Irish twins’ is sometimes used to describe two children born within a span of 12 months or less.

It originated in the 1800s as a way to poke fun at Irish Catholic immigrant families who didn’t have access to birth control.

‘Honestly. Shocked was an understatement. Nothing and no one can take our joy now. We are so chuffed,’ she wrote.

The Devon-raised singer previously spoke about experiencing a difficult birth with her second child during which her uterus split.

At the time, Joss said doctors told her she can have another child but that she would be unable to give birth naturally.

In October 2021, five months after welcoming Violet, she experienced a miscarriage.

Joss had also previously detailed how Bear was ‘vulnerable’ after he was born prematurely.

Filming a video from a hospital parking lot with Bear and sharing it online, she said: ‘I’m hanging out in the car right now cos I can’t take Bear and his vulnerable little lungs out into the world yet.

‘So, I’m sat in the car with him because he’s so little that he can’t go out. He’s actually not that little now, he’s six pounds. But because he was so premature, his lungs are a little bit vulnerable so Cody’s in there with Violet at the play place, Shaq [Shackleton] has fallen asleep in the back. And I’m just here with little man, hanging out at the hospital. They said don’t take him out anywhere…’
