After the Prince and Princess of Wales played their “crucial roles” as airport greeters yesterday, they delivered Germany’s President Steinmeier and his wife to Windsor Castle. There was some kind of procession and carriage ride, and then the Windsors and the Germans went inside the castle. This is a common thing for state visits: the Windsors show their guests various art pieces and historical items with an association to their visitors’ home country. William and Kate were invited to take part in that event as well, and there are tons of photos of Kate preening in her black Burberry dress, with her newly long, pin-straight hair. In fact, everyone is seemingly in awe of how drastically different Kate’s hair looks from week to week. Suddenly, her hair is almost all the way down her back and there are absolutely no curls. Princess magic!
Meanwhile, it’s been known for years that Will and Kate suck at small talk and they’re both very dull conversationalists. Usually, their fallback position is just to talk about their kids and claim that their kids will be super-jealous of whatever is happening. “George will be so jealous of this, he really wanted to meet Germany’s elected head of state!” Or perhaps: “Charlotte is learning German!” But now Will and Kate have something new to chatter about: their manor home, Forest Lodge, which Kate is apparently decorating herself. The German First Lady asked her about it.
Kate Middleton is creating “mood boards” for her new home. The Princess of Wales, 43, discussed her family’s recent move as she and Prince William welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and first lady Elke Büdenbender for an official state visit on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling examined the footage of the diplomatic greeting on behalf of Betfair Casino, revealing that Princess Kate and the first lady discussed the Wales family’s recent move to Forest Lodge in Windsor.
“It’s wonderful to hear you have moved into a new home together,” Büdenbender said after the foursome had shaken hands, according to Hickling.
Prince William, Princess Kate and their children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — moved into Forest Lodge during the kids’ half-term break from school in October and have been settling in as the holiday season begins. Kate famously decorated their family’s previous royal residences at Adelaide Cottage, Nottingham Cottage, Anmer Hall and Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace — sometimes undertaking large-scale renovations. She shared with Büdenbender that plans are underway for Forest Lodge.
“We are putting together some mood boards for the room, and we will start after Christmas,” she told the first lady, according to the lip reader.
“Can you send me pictures when they’re done? I’d love to see the outcome,” the first lady asked, to which Kate agreed with a smile.
Prince William was a bit more practical about the recent changes, admitting to the president that “the house move has been rather challenging with elements of twists, but we’re tackling it.”
Mood boards? I bet. This isn’t even the first time Kate has used mood boards, just my guess. For years, we’ve said that Kate has Meghan mood-boards to style-stalk her sister-in-law. I wonder if Kate’s interior design mood-boards include some photos from Montecito. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least.
