Rapper Remy Ma’s son, 23, charged with murder after New York City shooting

The 23-year-old son of US rapper Remy Ma has been arrested over the murder of a man in Queens, New York, in 2021.

Jayson Scott was arrested and charged on Tuesday, June 18, in connection to the shooting of 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux.

He was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment regarding the June 7 attack.

Guillebeaux had been found with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and chest just before 1pm before being taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An argument is said to have occurred before the shooting and alongside Scott, 22-year-old Richard Swygert is also facing a murder charge.

Ma, 44, has not publicly commented on her son’s arrest and an arraignment is expected to occur on Wednesday in Queens County court.

Scott has made several appearances on his mum’s reality TV show Love & Hip Hop: New York, which ran from 2015 to 2020.

NYPD told People they responded to a 911 call and when they arrived on the scene Guillebeaux was ‘unconscious and unresponsive’.

He had ‘multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest’ as police added: ‘EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.’

The DailyMail reported that the victim had been connected to a drug operation and was previously indicted in New York.

Ma, real name Reminisce Mackie, has spent time in prison herself, after being arrested in 2007 over a shooting.

She was behind bars for six years after being found guilty on charges relating to assault, illegal weapons possession, and attempted coercion charges.

The rapper launched her career in 1998 with the group Terror Squad with Fat Joe before going solo in 2006.

She is married to fellow rapper Papoose and the couple have one child together, plus his three children and her son Scott from previous relationships.
