Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were tragically killed on Sunday, December 14, by their son Nick Reiner, who was taken into custody on Sunday evening by the Los Angeles Police Department, according to the Los Angeles Times. He was initially being held on $4 million bail, but is now being held without bail.
The Los Angeles Police Department has been investigating the case and released a statement regarding the arrest made.

“Detectives Announce Arrest in the Murder of Robert and Michele Reiner
Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) announce the arrest of Nick Reiner, following the murder of Robert and Michele Reiner.
On December 14, 2025, around 3:40 p.m, Los Angeles Police Department officers assigned to West Los Angeles Division responded to a call of a death investigation in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue. Once inside the residence, officers discovered the two victims, who were subsequently identified as Robert and Michele Reiner. Robbery Homicide Division, Homicide Special Section (RHD/HSS), responded to the residence and initiated an investigation regarding the circumstances of their death.
As a result of the initial investigation, it was deemed that the Reiners were victims of homicide. The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths. Nick Reiner was located and arrested at approximately 9:15 p.m. He was booked for murder and remains in custody with no bail, under Booking Number 7144668. On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing considerations.”
The Incident Began At Conan OâBrienâs Holiday Party
TMZ reported that Reiner and his wife were in attendance at Conan OâBrienâs Christmas party on Saturday night with their son Nick, and during the party, the actor and Nick got into a âvery loud argument,â that was â loud enough for many others to hear.â
âWeâre told Rob and Michele then left the party,â they added. âWe do not know if Nick left as well.â
This happened a day before two bodies were found inside the home of Rob Reiner, which were later confirmed to be him and his wife, with the two having suffered âlacerations consistent with a knife.â PEOPLE was the first to report that the two were killed by their son, Nick, going on to add that it was Rob and Micheleâs daughter, Romy, who discovered their bodies.
