Turck, 35, was walking his dog early Saturday morning when he intervened in a dispute between a man and a woman, according to Richmond police.

Authorities say the man shot Turck before taking his own life. Turck was kept on life support for organ donation, a final act of compassion that his family says defines who he was.

“Adam will be 35 years old when he passes in the next few days, after donating his organs to help save the lives of others,” his family shared with WTVR. “That’s what heroes do — they save the lives of others.”

Loved Ones Gather to Celebrate Adam’s Life

In the days following the tragedy, dozens gathered at Richmond’s Firehouse Theater to honor Turck’s life and legacy. Friends, fellow actors, and loved ones paid tribute to the actor’s bright spirit and extraordinary empathy.

“Adam put his life on the line to protect someone in need, and we will forever remember him for this sacrifice,” his family said. “We were told that if Adam had not been there, the person he intervened to help would not be with us today.”

The Virginia Repertory Theatre, where Turck frequently performed, shared a moving tribute on social media, calling him “a gifted actor, passionate activist, and beloved member of our community.”

Celebrated Talent on Richmond’s Theater Stage

Turck’s career spanned years of standout performances across Richmond’s theater scene. He was a multiple-time nominee at the Richmond Theatre Community Circle Awards and won Best Actor in a Play in 2018 for his role in “Hand to God.”

At the time of his death, Turck had recently performed in “Smoke” with Cadence Theatre and was preparing to take on the role of Dracula in “Dracula: A Comedy of Horrors” this fall at Richmond Triangle Players.

A Community Mourning a Personal Loss

Beyond the stage, Turck was also a cherished member of the Richmond gym Tequila & Deadlifts, which described him as a “dear and beloved friend” in a heartfelt social media tribute.

“I cannot explain the size of the hole that has been left,” gym owner Kerith Rae told WWBT. “He’s the kind of person people write about in books because they want to be that good, and he just was. This world is a duller, darker place without him.”
