Reports surfaced on June 15th that Cher’s youngest son, Elijah Blue Allman, 48, had a serious medical incident. This came after he suffered a drug overdose. Reports indicate that this event occurred in Landers, California, and that medical professionals rushed him to a hospital.
Now, a source has spoken to PEOPLE about the matter and revealed that Cher, like any parent, is doing her best to ensure Elijah makes a recovery. According to the insider, “Like all mothers, sheâs doing everything she can to help her son and help him get well.”
Statement From His Estranged Wife And Law Enforcement
As mentioned, someone called local authorities to a home in Southern California on the morning of June 14th over a “male subject acting erratically.” A statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriffâs Department says that deputies found Elijah “being evaluated by emergency medical personnel.”
The statement continues, “Deputies located drugs inside the home, and Allman was transported to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.” It is unclear what drugs the authorities found in Elijah Allman’s home.
This comes amid Elijah’s ongoing divorce from Marieangela King Allman. She released a statement to PEOPLE, saying, “While it is true that Elijah has faced personal challenges in the past. One constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves.”
She continued, “Like many, he continues to confront his inner strugglesâbut it is important to recognize that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat.”
King then said, “Despite the assumptions that often color how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused, and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose.”
She concluded, “I want to state, without hesitation, that I will always root for him. My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show.”
This Comes a Year After Cher Was Denied Conservatorship Over Elijah
According to Find Law, Cher applied in late 2023 to become a temporary conservator for Elijah. She did so as she believed him to be unable to manage his estate and feared for his future. In response to her request, Elijah was honest about his struggles with addiction but stated that he had recently passed a drug test.
Despite the concern, a judge denied the request in January 2024, citing “insufficient evidence” to support Cher’s claims.
Currently, neither representatives for Cher nor Elijah have issued direct statements.
