REPORT: How the Reiners’ Devoted Daughter Came Upon the Scene

Romy Reiner, the daughter of legendary actor Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, was the one who found her father’s body, The New York Times reports. The outlet added that she was contacted by a massage therapist who couldn’t reach Rob or Michele before their appointment at their home.

Romy “fled the home without realizing that her mother was also dead inside,” and later “learned from the paramedics outside that she was dead, too,” a person told the Times, providing a detailed description from the family’s perspective.

TMZ also released new details about the state of their bodies, reporting that “When police arrived on the scene Sunday afternoon around 3:40 PM, rigor mortis appeared to have set in Rob and Michele’s bodies — meaning they had been deceased for hours before their daughter Romy arrived.”

People further adds that the two were “found dead in their bedroom,” with the source saying that they “were found where they were murdered.”

Romy Reiner Lived Across The Street From Her Parents

CNN reports that Romy lived across the street from her parents and “went to check on her parents around 3 p.m. local time Sunday when she discovered their bodies, according to an individual close to the situation.”

“Detectives, speaking to family members, learned the Reiners’ son Nick had been staying at the guest house on the property and was not present when law enforcement arrived,” the outlet added. “They also learned of his history of drug addiction and of an argument that occurred between Nick Reiner and his parents at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party the night before, according to the individual.”

Romy Reiner Called Billy Crystal After Discovering Her Parents’ Bodies

Billy Crystal and Larry David were spotted at Reiner’s house on the night of the actor’s passing, ABC 7 Los Angeles reported, adding that they  “stayed briefly before departing,” with Crystal being described by a neighbor as looking “like he was about to cry.”

TMZ, followed that up, adding that Crystal saw the bodies of Reiner and his wife after they were killed. 

“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ Rob and Michele’s daughter Romy called Crystal and his wife not long after she called police to report finding her parents brutally murdered inside their Brentwood home Sunday,” the outlet wrote. “Sources with direct knowledge tell us Billy and his wife raced over to the house — and were there so quickly, one source tells us — the couple actually saw their slain friends … and wanted to say their goodbyes.”
