Richard Gere Shares Rare Family Photo with Wife Alejandra & Sons

Richard Gere has offered fans a rare look at his family life, posting a sweet photo alongside his wife Alejandra Gere (née Silva) and their two youngest sons, Alexander, 6, and James, 5. The image, shared on Instagram Friday, shows the family dressed in matching gray hoodies in support of the nonprofit Open Arms.

The organization, as described on its website, works to protect people “who try to reach Europe by sea, fleeing from armed conflict, persecution or poverty.”

Family Life and Milestones

In the photo, Gere, 75, and Alejandra, 42, smile warmly while their young boys face away from the camera, displaying the Open Arms logo on their backs. A dog can be seen sitting behind them.

“This whole family is a proud supporter of @openarms_fund and their mission to save lives. ♥️,” the couple’s joint Instagram post read.

Gere and Alejandra, who tied the knot in a private ceremony in April 2018, welcomed Alexander in February 2019 and James in April 2020. Per People, the actor also shares an adult son, Homer James Jigme, with ex-wife Carey Lowell, while Alejandra has an older son, Albert, from a previous relationship.

In March, Alejandra celebrated a significant family milestone when she posted a collection of photos to Instagram marking their first Spanish Father’s Day since relocating to Spain. The snapshots captured the family enjoying time by the ocean, with Gere bonding with Albert.

Earlier this year, Alejandra opened up to ELLE España about life in Spain and Gere’s hands-on role as a father. “Richard is a very devoted and present father. He loves to read them stories. It seems like an idyllic photo, but it’s true. He’s a great dad,” Alejandra said. She added, “He doesn’t cook. I do it, but when I cook, he plays the guitar.”

Gere echoed the sentiment, telling the magazine, “The truth is that you are seeing us in our momentum. We are happier than ever. [Alejandra], because she is at home and I because, if she is happy, I am happy.”

Looking Ahead and Blended Family Moments

After moving to Spain in late 2024, Alejandra shared with the Daily Mail that the family plans to stay there “for a few years” before returning to the United States. “We’re always coming back,” she said. “We’ll come back here in the summer because we have the kids at camp. We just have to balance our lives there and here.”

As for Gere’s eldest, Homer, 25, the actor enjoys spending time with him as much as possible. In April, Gere attended City Harvest Presents The 2025 Gala: Carnaval in New York City with both Homer and Alejandra. Reflecting on the night, Gere told People, “I always love being with my son. If we’re out in the woods walking, if we’re here doing something good for other people, I’m always happy to see him.”
