In the wake of the devastating deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, family and friends are highlighting the resilience of the coupleâs children â particularly sons Jake and Romy Reiner â as they navigate the difficult days ahead.
Rob and Michele, both beloved figures in the entertainment and creative worlds, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14.
Authorities have described the incident as an apparent homicide, and law enforcement is actively investigating.
The coupleâs son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested in connection with their deaths, adding another layer of heartbreak for the family.
He had his first court appearance on Wednesday, December 17.
Despite the unimaginable circumstances, those close to the Reiners describe their younger children, 34-year-old Jake and 28-year-old Romy, as demonstrating remarkable strength and composure, according to PEOPLE.
A family friend told the outlet that they have been âincredibly strongâ since the tragedy.
“It has of course been a huge shock to the system. This nightmare came out of nowhere for them, but they’ve been surrounded with support since the second they found out,â the source added.
The source continued, “Jake and Romy will never be alone as they try to face this.”
Jake & Romy Released a Statement
The siblings released a joint statement on Wednesday, December 17.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” the two said. “The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
“We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life,” it continued.
They asked from privacy as they navigate their grief and asked âfor our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
Tributes Pour In
Since their death was announced, friends and colleagues continue to show their sadness for Rob and Micheleâs passing.
Rita Wilson penned a touching essay telling people what the two meant to her.
âThey made the world a better place,â Wilson wrote in the lengthy tribute. âThey loved their kids. Each one. They did everything right. They loved. They were loved.â
Maria Shriver shared a similar sentiment and wrote, âThey loved their kids so much, and they never stopped trying to be really good parents.â
