Rosie O’Donnell is asking fans to keep her daughter in their thoughts. The 62-year-old actress and comedian took to Instagram on Wednesday, October 29, to share a throwback photo of her daughter Chelsea, now 28, along with a heartfelt message.
âMy child Chelsea Belle â before addiction took over her life â I loved her then, I love her now as she faces a scary future. Prayers welcomed,â O’Donnell wrote. She added hashtags including #addictionawareness, #love, and #family beneath the post.
In the photo, a young Chelsea is seen smiling at an event, wearing a red-and-pink striped turtleneck and sweater, a snapshot that reflects brighter, earlier days. O’Donnellâs post came shortly after Chelsea began serving time following a probation violation earlier this month.
A Motherâs Message of Love & Compassion

âChelsea was born into addiction, and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.â
The “A League of Their Own” star has long advocated for understanding and awareness around addiction and mental health, using her platform to remind others that support and empathy can make a difference.
Chelseaâs Life as a Devoted Mom
Chelsea, whom O’Donnell adopted as a baby, is the mother of four children: daughters Skylar Rose, 5, Riley, 3, and Avery Lynn, 2, and son Atlas, born in 2023. Despite personal struggles, O’Donnell has continued to emphasize her daughterâs love for her children and the importance of family unity.
Those close to the family say O’Donnell has remained a constant source of support, helping however she can while respecting Chelseaâs journey to stability.
O’Donnell and Chelsea have shared a complex history but have also found moments of reconnection and healing. After a period of estrangement during Chelseaâs late teens, the two reconciled in 2018 when Chelsea became pregnant with her first child, as reported by People.
Over the years, O’Donnell has spoken openly about the ups and downs of motherhood, saying her goal has always been to foster âlove and peaceâ within her family. Her latest post reflects that enduring hope â a motherâs love that continues despite hardship.
âLove and support are what families are for,â O’Donnell shared previously. âThatâs what I want for mine.â
