A 1990s comedy series starring Ryan Reynolds that fans thought had been lost to time has resurfaced on a British streaming service.

Two Guys and a Girl, which ran for four seasons between 1998 and 2001, has appeared on ITVX, with all episodes available to watch on demand.

Originally titled Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, the 90s series was created by American comedy writers Rick Wiener, Kenny Schwartz, and Danny Jacobson.

The series followed characters Michael ‘Berg’ Bergen (Ryan Reynolds), Peter Dunville (Richard Ruccolo), and Sharon Carter-Donnelly (Traylor Howard), with the story centred around a Boston, USA pizza parlour.

Initially the show ran for a 13-episode first season before the second season added Johnny Donnelly (Nathan Fillion) and Ashley Walker (Suzanne Cryer) to the main group.

With the characters all around university student age, the show changed its name after season two – removing the ‘and a Pizza Place’ – to reflect their changing circumstances.

The series also featured a number of guest stars over the years, including model and actress Carmen Electra, Buffy actor Anthony Head, and popular rock band Blink-182.

For Ryan Reynolds, it wasn’t his first major role but is considered by some to be his breakthrough into the mainstream, landing the role of Berg at age 22.

@SuperJutah said on X: ‘Two Guys and a Girl (or Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place!). The very first time I ever saw Ryan Reynolds and knew he was gonna be big – also Nathan Fillion and Suzanne Cryer were hilarious.’

@Watch_It_Pod hoped the show still had something of a future, 24 years after it finished: ‘Of all the reunion shows, Two Guys and a Girl needs one the most.’

@ReynoldsEnjoyer loved watching their favourite actor during his younger days: ‘Finally watching Two Guys and a Girl and Ryan is so cute, I’m crying.’

Elsewhere, @Kaiishakuu tagged Ryan on X after watching the finale and begged him to carry the series on: ‘Make a sequel series for Two Guys and a Girl right now! I am so broken.’

Two Guys and a Girl produced 81 episodes in the end, with the best of those being season three, episode 14, The Monitor Story – as voted by fans on IMDb.

A synopsis of the episode reads: ‘While Berg and Ashley go on dates to make each other jealous, Sharon and Johnny find monitors connected to cameras in each of their apartments – they quickly become full-time voyeurs and interfere in everybody’s lives.’

Initially, Two Guys and a Girl was a hit with viewers, pulling in an average of 13 million viewers during its first season, making it the 36th biggest show of its season according to Nielsen.

While figures stayed strong during seasons two and three, viewership started to fall at the beginning of season four, with just five million tuning in at points.

The show was eventually cancelled, with a prospective fifth season shelved – the final episode ended up being co-written by fans of the show who voted for certain storylines via internet polls.
