Sabrina Carpenter Got to Hear 1 Taylor Swift Song Before Everyone Else

Sabrina Carpenter isn’t just a fan of Taylor Swift, she’s a friend of Taylor Swift. The “Espresso” singer revealed she got to hear one of Swift’s newest songs before the public did. Interestingly, the tune in question is connected to Carpenter’s past in the entertainment industry.

Swift is known for bringing up-and-coming artists on tour with her. Carpenter was one of the opening acts on The Eras Tour. That tour was many fans’ first introduction to Carpenter as a musician.

During a 2024 interview with <a href=”https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/sabrina-carpenter-espresso-short-n-sweet-taylor-swift-1235036627/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Rolling Stone, the “Espresso” singer discussed her feelings about Swift as an artist and as a person. “She always puts out music at a time where I didn’t realize I needed those songs,” Carpenter said. “We’re very, very verbal with each other about our mutual love and admiration. She played me ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ before it came out, and that’s also one of my favorites.” It’s interesting that Swift showed Carpenter that song, as it’s based on a quote from Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Carpenter is a former Disney star from the television show Girl Meets World.

The “Please Please Please” singer lavished praise on Swift. Carpenter feels that she has never come close to matching Swift’s career. The former Disney star also revealed that she’s a big fan of “Guilty as Sin” from The Tortured Poets Department. Interestingly, Carpenter has worked with Jack Antonoff, the producer behind The Tortured Poets Department and many of Swift’s most prominent records.

During a 2023 interview with <a href=”https://www.grammy.com/news/sabrina-carpenter-feather-eras-tour-interview-big-year” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Grammy.com, Carpenter revealed that Swift inspired her long before they met. “I covered one of her songs when I was nine years old and definitely, throughout my life, she was an artist and a songwriter and businesswoman who I’ve always admired,” the “Nonsense” singer explained. “So to call her a friend and be a part of something as iconic as this tour, I still can’t process it.

“I’m still on the tour into next year and have been learning as much as I can along the way,” she added. “I actually feel bad about how many shows I’ve been to because so many people want to see this show, so I feel lucky and privileged to have seen it as many times as I have!”

Taylor Swift’s ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ was both a big hit and a small hit

“But Daddy I Love Him” reached No. 7 on the <a href=”https://www.billboard.com/artist/taylor-swift/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Billboard Hot 100, staying on the chart for eight weeks. For most other singers, that would be a massive hit. However, Swift is so popular that “But Daddy I Love Him” isn’t even her 20th most successful tune.

The track appeared on Swift’s most recent record, The Tortured Poets Department. That record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has been No. 1 for the past nine weeks. With all due respect, Swift could release an album of her reading the phone book while suffering through a terrible head cold and it would probably hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Carpenter and Swift are very different artists but it’s cool to know they’re friends.
