Sarah Hyland & Wells Adams Celebrate Third Anniversary With Cheeky Instagram Posts

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams have officially hit the three-year mark in their marriage! In true Hyland fashion, of course, the celebration was equal parts heartfelt and hilarious. The “Modern Family” alum and the “Bachelor in Paradise” bartender first connected back in 2017 through a cheeky Twitter exchange. Adams, who had become a fan favorite on the ABC dating franchise, slid into Hyland’s mentions after she tweeted about him. What began as flirty banter quickly became a full-fledged romance. SWOON!

By July 2019, Adams had popped the question, and the two planned a California wedding for 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic, unfortunately, pushed their nuptials back not once but twice. Finally, in August 2022, they said “I do” in a romantic ceremony at Sunstone Winery near Santa Barbara. The vineyard wedding, complete with twinkle lights and a star-studded guest list including BFF Vanessa Hudgens, was also celebrated by her “Modern Family” co-stars. Safe to say it was worth the wait.

Now, three years later, the couple is still reminding fans why they’re one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. Hyland marked their anniversary with a classic mix of love and sarcasm, writing on Instagram, “3rd anniversary in a row not being spent together, but jokes on you @wellsadams, you’re stuck with me. For life. Even when I involuntarily walk like this at weddings… Like… you have to pay lawyers to leave me. Happy anniversary lol. I’m so lucky to call you my husband and I love you to Pluto & Back XX.”

Adams returned the favor with his own post, calling Hyland his “favorite human” and poking fun at the fact that their schedules keep them apart on their big day. What can we expect? These two are always up to something, so it’s no shock that their schedules are always changing. But their easy humor and genuine affection are exactly what fans fell in love with when the two first went public.

To Broadway We Go!

Hyland, 34, has had quite a busy year. She decided to return to her theater roots in 2025 with a major Broadway comeback. After starring in “Little Shop of Horrors” as Audrey, she starred as Daisy Buchanan in “The Great Gatsby” musical, a role she says has been “so deliciously complex” to explore. “It is so fascinating to me to be able to go through all of these emotions — especially as a woman in 2025, 100 years after the book came out — to be able to still identify and relate to this woman,” Hyland told People.

“It’s been 2 months since I’ve left the @bwaygatsby party and I’m finally getting around to posting only a handful of memories with the best people,” she said via Instagram about her run. “I love you all so much and I’m so honored and grateful to have been able to share this remarkable story on stage with such magical human beings 🥰 ***Also, I can’t find my Polaroids in the mess of traveling. So, more pictures to come!

The actress is also deeply involved in wellness advocacy. After battling kidney dysplasia and undergoing two kidney transplants, she co-founded Source, a supplement brand designed to make nutrition more accessible. Hyland has used her platform to speak openly about chronic illness, resilience, and self-care, adding yet another dimension to her career.

The Couple’s Secret to Love

When asked recently what advice she gives brides-to-be, Hyland kept it pretty simple and sweet. “Try to be present as much as possible. And the best piece of advice I got for my wedding was to steal yourself away with your partner, and just have a moment and look over all of your guests at the wedding, and just appreciate everybody there and each other. And eat food!”

That balance of humor, sincerity, and grounded love seems to be the cornerstone of the couple’s relationship. Even if their anniversary falls on a night spent apart, the couple proves that sometimes distance only strengthens the bond.

As Hyland continues to advance her Broadway career, hopefully sooner rather than later, Adams keeps busy in the world of food and entertainment. Fans can count on these two to keep celebrating life with laughter and maybe a few well-placed Instagram roasts.
